Hi, I just wanted to ask you where you got the info for the chart. My family uses SVRS (Sorenson Communications) and I'm pretty sure it's run by the deaf. Can you tell me where you found that it is hearing-owned? 71.214.221.140 (talk) 01:56, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't know who inserted the "Hearing" designation in the chart related to Sorenson's VRS services. It may or may not be factually correct.
More importantly, an unknown editor has added a new category (field) to the chart I created several months ago, "Deaf of Hearing Owned", which I never intended to include. There was no prior discussion on this page before it was done. The new field appears to discriminate for or against VRS services of one type or another, which violates multiple provisions of Wikipedia's neutral point of view requirements and other MOS provisions. I will be removing the "Deaf of Hearing Owned" column from the chart completely. Users of VRS services who have complaints or issues with individual service providers need to take their concerns to the appropriate venue; Wikipedia is not such a venue. This whole chart should be deleted. It is full of defunct companies and misinformation. Wr!ter (talk) 06:26, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Precisions on the French situation

edit

There is no law that specifically states the establishement of relay services in France. The only legal grounds are the 'Paquet Télécom' passed in 2005 and the associated European directive on Universal service (2002). There is however a constant push by deaf associations to obtain this and a declaration made by the French President in 2009 indeed stated that in 2010, one relay service would be open and 3 in 2012. This has not materialized yet although there is indication that French govt. is moving in the good direction. The funding scheme is however not clear.

There is a second project that is not a Relay Center strictly speaking but that is linked to Relay Center. France has open a center for emergencies accessible by deaf people on September 15, 2011 it is called "CNR 114" [1] and is accessibly by fax and SMS at the moment. An upgrade using total conversation is planned for january 2013. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neutrino38 (talkcontribs) 20:38, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
