Last living person to have met Vincent?
editThe reference given for Calment's apparent claim to be the last living person to meet Vincent was a dead link, but the claim is not even present in the archived version . -- Cimbalom (talk) 04:36, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- The source says: "It wasn't until 1988 that Ms Calment reached international fame, with the centenary of Vincent Van Gogh's visit to Arles. Having met Van Gogh, reporters were fascinated to hear her describe him as “very ugly, ungracious, impolite, sick. ... We called him a madman”." That she was the last surviving person to have met him is admittedly not claimed directly there, but the inference is reasonable, considering that any rival for the claim in any meaningful sense (as opposed to "sitting on his lap as a baby") would have to have become extremely old too. Maybe "last known person (claiming/claimed) to have met Vincent" is acceptable. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:11, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
