Public Domain...?

edit

The article doesn't mention anything about this film being in the public domain, but it's categorised under "public domain films".

Can anyone give an explanation as to how a 1980 film would come to be in the public domain, or alternatively recategorise this correctly. Prof Wrong (talk) 16:22, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree. That needs an explanation. Kouban (talk) 22:22, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Languages????

edit

While the DVD in question does not have English subtitles, an English-subtitled version of the full cut was later released in 2006 as part of a compilation set called the Sonny Chiba Action Pack.

Why is this here? This was an English language film. Why would English subtitles even be a problem? --24.21.149.124 (talk) 05:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

and why are you fretting all of a sudden over the language? Please read the Toho Kingdom review on the R2 DVD before you start complaining. Thank you. --Eaglestorm (talk) 13:14, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Though mostly English, some parts of the film have Japanese speech, so English subtitles are needed.(88.3.114.28 (talk) 13:07, 28 May 2016 (UTC))Reply

Two million yen?

edit

That’s roughly only 20,000 $US. Even in 1980 thats not a great deal of money for a film budget, especially one that was supposedly the most expensive Japanese film up to that time. That figure must be incorrect. Evil-yuusha (talk) 09:04, 8 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

In 1980 it was less than US $10,000. Agreed that's not possible. GA-RT-22 (talk) 22:41, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
This source has it at $16 million US which in 1980 was about 3.36 billion yen. That goes along with this source that says budget was $16-20 million US. MartinezMD (talk) 00:19, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I see Autodidact1 has changed this to 2.4 billion, marked as a minor edit, without providing a source or discussing here. I'm going to change the tag to "failed verification." GA-RT-22 (talk) 14:20, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
I changed it to conform with the figure in the summary (if that is what it is called) in the article. Autodidact1 (talk) 01:41, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you don't have a source for that, I'm going to go with Bolam. GA-RT-22 (talk) 05:33, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

In the absence of a reliable source, should we just take out the budget number? GA-RT-22 (talk) 05:43, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
