editVivek is a common name in India, and I think one could turn this into a more encyclopedic entry by elaborating on the use of the name, its origins and etemology, etc. I wonder if there is precedent for this. Does wikipedia currently have other common names (from any geographical/national/cultural origin at all) as entries? --FashionNugget 01:42, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Probably, you can leave the entry as is, link to other articles starting with vivek and turn it into a disambig page. Most other common names follow this concept. pamri 08:01, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
this has (Actor) follows it. I dont remember any actors so much popular than him--Sinjanthu (talk) 15:21, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

- I think we could try to get the date of birth of the actors and the wedding dates and death dates (Last two only if applicable). Those who are interested in actors and their lives would be knowing this. This is not just for Vivek but also for other actors be it of English movies like Tom Cruise or Hindi movies like Amir Khan (Names taken randomly). And yes, he has acted in other language films. I remember he was in some telegu movie. But tamil movies are his main area of focus.— Preceding unsigned comment added by PercyBlakeney (talk • contribs) 12:05, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Remove reference to caste
edit"Maravar" denotes a subcaste of "Thevar" community of Tamil population. Referring one's caste is not something welcome. Tamil Nadu is known for its anti-caste movements. Tamil Nadu is the only state where one can never infer the caste of a person from his/her name due to the absence of Caste surname as is still common in all parts of India(excluding most of Northeast). One can observe that only a few "Iyers" and "Iyengars" settled outside Tamil Nadu are still holding on to this medieval habit. For them, it is like a tail to a monkey.Given the divisive and destructive nature of caste, I think Wikipedia content should not become yet another mainstream Indian media content where people from upper castes use caste surnames as a way of establishing their "higher" origin and claim to respect and knowledge, power etc.
Specifically,in this case there is no study to prove that Vivek's comedies are more relevant to Maravar community or are generally more popular among Maravar audience.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ecovian (talk • contribs) 12:54, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Dear Sir,
You must have done so much of charity and support to students. If possible please adopt few GOVERNMENT COLLEGE STUDENTS to learn soft skills training. They will truly become responsible citizens and grateful citizens of the country. I am a soft skills trainer by profession and i see the youth in Government Colleges by and large from disadvantaged families. Your support can be a boon in disguise. You can entrust a list of students to our care as well and we will make them industrious in 100 hours programme. Yes it all needs a begining given by people like you with an experimental sponsor. If you offer consent, we will submit a detailed project on the same. Thanking you, Samy M.Com.,M.A.,(Soc)M.A.,(P.Man)PGDCA., 9445020873 INFANT HRD FOUNDATION Bangalore and Chennai infanthrdfound@yahoo.com |

The section on the death of the actor should be rewritten. Instead of starting with news about him taking Covid vaccination leading to his death, start by mentioning the date of death and the medical reason given by the hospital. The preceding circumstances, like the Covaxin injection, should be mentioned afterward. In times like this, care must be taken to avoid further vaccine hesitancy in the general public. The controversy around it should be mentioned, but the section should not start with it. Deepakkosmos (talk) 02:21, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:10, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- I agree that there were issues with the way it was presented. Since the reliable sources have either omitted mention of the vaccine or stated there was no linkage, it should be omitted from the "Death" section entirely. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 21:13, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
The man died in less than a day after taking a Covid vaccination. There seem to be a lot of "coincidental" heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots after taking these jabs. I spoke to someone two days ago whose wife has just died from one of these "coincidences" (blood clot) a couple of weeks after hers. You are actually doing the public a disservice here, in fact you're pretty much doing a cover up as some national health ministries are listing these as a common side effect.-2A01:4C8:825:87F7:956:C74C:C69D:C9D8 (talk) 15:07, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- Apparently two days later according to one source. In any case, coronary artery disease is unfortunately always a leading cause of death, with high blood pressure a common contributing factor.[1] While not impossible with enough research over time, this makes it very difficult to link cardiac incidents and any specific event. And the currently cited sources do stress the lack of an established link. I tried to keep the mention at the end, while avoiding to misrepresent the sources. —PaleoNeonate – 21:54, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
