Was this in fact one of the first American movies rated X by the MPAA?
editI cut the following:
"The film was among the first to receive an NC-17 rating. (Many explicit films are said to be 'X' rated, but this was merely a marketing ploy -- the actual rating is 'NC-17')."
It is true that X-ratings are only a marketing ploy now, but there was an actual X-rating in the late 1960s, while NC-17 was instituted much later. See Wikipedia's own history of MPAA movie ratings. Was Vixen! one of the first movies to get an X? It's quite possible; the timing is about right, and a lot of people think so, but I haven't found a citable source for the datum. It would be an important thing to include for this movie, if true. 66.241.73.241 07:59, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
This is correct. I saw the film when it was just released, and it was X-rated. I do not remember that there even was an NC-17 category back then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.82.150.101 (talk) 17:12, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
George Costello
editQuote: During the film, George Costello had a relationship with Gavin, which led to the end of Costello's professional relationship with Meyer.
