I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Von Miller. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}

Signing with Bills
editI got a question, so I just saw on his instagram that Miller signed with the Bills himself. Is it ok to change his team to the Bills or leave it as reported first? Swagging (talk) 23:06, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Von's full name being Vonnie
edit@Rockchalk717: What should we do in an instance where the references for Von's full name being Vonnie might be considered disparaging? An article from the Washington Post includes a statement made by the District Attorney's Office of the 18th Judicial District which uses Vonnie as his full name, though I'm hesitant to use that as the source for the name in the lead. In addition, Von Miller's father's instagram shows his name as Vonnie Miller Sr (note that there are pictures of the two together on that Instagram). In additional, this article references his father as Von Sr. as does this interview that includes his family. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:08, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Hey man im josh: Social media is rarely considered reliable, and that includes YouTube. One slightly annoying thing about Wikipedia is that unless the article specifically states that his name includes a junior, adding the junior because his father is a senior is unfortunately the utter definition of original research, because we can't say "well because of 'a' plus 'b' that means 'c'." So just because those articles say his father his senior doesn't necessarily mean he's junior. The Washington Post article is fine for verification that his first name is actually Vonnie. Pro Football reference does occasionally make mistakes, I've stats incorrect and the one person I know personally that played in the NFL, they have his birthday wrong.--Rockchalk717 16:25, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
DE vs. LB
editThere's some confusion about whether or not Miller should be listed as a defensive end or a linebacker as his position. The Bills list him as a linebacker on his player profile [1] but they list him as a defensive end on the depth chart [2]. Bills reporter Sal Capaccio recently said that this is because of the numbering rules in the NFL, players with the number 40 are supposed to be linebackers [3] even though in the actual 4-3/nickel defense the Bills run he's playing defensive end.
Considering that official team sources list him as both DE and LB I would like both positions to be listed in the article, but unless there's consensus for this change I'll keep the status quo. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 13:56, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- You're right about the numbering system, LBs wear 20 thru 59 while d-line wears 50 thru 79. I made the same mistake as you, listing Miller as a DE instead of an OLB, until another user corrected me. I'm not entirely sure what to do in this case but I started a discussion that relates to this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League#Player's position.
