The CW
editI'm noticing quite a bit of unsourced speculation in articles on present UPN and WB affiliates. For example, is there any source which states that WDWB will revert to its WXON calls? -- SwissCelt 15:34, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
No more WB ? Bring The Ghoul back !
editNow that the once and future WXON will be an independent station once again, I think the first thing they should do is bring The Ghoul back to Detroit! Ghoul power rules !
WDWB-TV to WXON-TV?
editIt can happen. look at KUAM-TV and KUAM-LP...same call-signs, different suffixes.... of course, they may have to ask WXON-LP in Flint, Michigan for permission.

- It can happen, surely. But Wikipedia is not the place for unfounded speculation; as they say, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Unless and until some source says that this will happen, the idea that WDWB "will" (read: might) revert to its WXON calls does not belong in this article. -- SwissCelt 23:11, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
WJMY-TV actually was on from about Sept 1962, running for a few months then going off the air in Jun 1963. WKBD 50 was the first successful independent station in Detroit (and the second successful UHF, after the channel 56 public television station) in 1965. WXON went on the air in 1968 on Ch 62, as the article correctly states, then changed to Ch 20 after buying out the facilities of WJMY (inactive for nine years). The Ch 62 facilities were taken up by WGPR in the mid-1970s, becoming the first African-American (contemporary term "black") owned and operated TV station in the US. I'm not clear on post 1981 shuffling, however. GBC 21:56, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
WMYD and Wikipedia
editPerhaps we wikipedians should be flattered or proud that WMYD has basically copied our history on their station when they updated their history on their website... http://www.tv20detroit.com/home/connectwith/8879587.html :) RingtailedFox • Talk • Stalk 02:33, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Spotchecks
editSammi, I should have done spotchecks when I promoted this to GA, so I've gone back and done some now. I came up with one question:
- FN 71 cites "Granite's high debt load continued to motivate attempts to sell WDWB and its San Francisco sister station KBWB. In September 2005, Granite announced its intention to sell WDWB and KBWB to AM Media Holdings, Inc., a company mostly owned by ACON Investments, for a total of $180 million." I don't see support in the source for the mention of Granite's debt load as motivation, or for "mostly owned".
I checked several other cites and this was the only issue that came up. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:19, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- The fact that you're doing this is admirable, Mike Christie. I have added two new refs in this area that more explicitly note the debt load issue. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:37, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Well, I guess it's a good thing; I wish I'd done these spot checks first time round! To my surprise, less than half of the GAs I promoted without spotchecks had absolutely no changes needed when I spotchecked. Quite a few more only had one minor issue, like this one, but some have (or had -- some are fixed) major issues. And I'm leaving the Doug Coldwell ones till last since I suspect I'll have to GAR those. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 17:46, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
