Overall: I only have some issues with the hooks: Both seem to somewhat mix up the subject of this DYK nom, WMYD, and the related ON TV (TV network). It seems to me as it was ON TV that did join the game late, which was caused by WMYD "blocking" the signal (?) with their previous program. (I must admit that I don't know much about the technical aspects involved here, so I might have gotten it wrong.) Similarly, ALT1 is mostly about ON TV, its backers, and its failure, and only indirectly about WMYD – I don't find that particularly interesting, but maybe because as a European neither of the two linked people are recognizable to me.
I'd approve an ALT0a where it's clearer what actually happened. And frankly I'd scrap the "contract dispute" part as well, it doesn't add much. IMO it should just say ON TV couldn't start broadcasting in time, because of Channel 20, and as a result fans missed 5 goals. (But again if I got the technical situation wrong, do correct me.) --LordPeterII (talk) 15:44, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Welcome to confusingland, LordPeterII! How about this, which is definitely on the unusual side... Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:05, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- ALT2: ... that datacasting tests by a Detroit TV station included a ceremonial broadcast of an early automobile patent from 1886? [1]
- That I can approve. @Sammi Brie unless you also want a corrected/reworded ALT0, I'm going to strike the other ones and only approve ALT2. --LordPeterII (talk) 18:22, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- That's fine, LordPeterII, especially given that I already brought ON TV to GA and DYK. (If you notice, five of the eight ON TV carriers are now Good Articles...hmmmmmm...) Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 19:09, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie: Does this mean you are a fan of ON TV? Or is that just part of your general (insane, 530 noms?!) DYK output and your mission to bring every single notable network station to Wikipedia? :D --LordPeterII (talk) 19:19, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LordPeterII: It means I have a Good Topic brewing once all the GAs are in place. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 19:25, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ooh right! Wow good topics are rare, I've only ever stumbled upon two or three during my time on Wikipedia. Good luck with that, but I think I this DYK nomination is done, don't want to derail too much :) --LordPeterII (talk) 19:31, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
