editCall me crazy, but shouldn't an article about an FM station "connecting dots" back to the KKK and the Republican Party in New York City in the 1920s and linking to today's Mormon Church - at least have one source beyond a self-authored blog post? Can I add in a paragraph saying that Marconi held séances with space aliens who gave him the secrets of super heterodyne regeneration circuits?69.37.99.53 (talk) 18:55, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Anon has a point. We don't link to blogs and this shouldn't be any different. It should come from a 3rd party, non-blog source or be removed. WTOP's owner Bonneville International can be linked to the Mormon Church...and should be properly linked like sister station KSL (radio) and KSL-TV are. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 19:11, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Here it is 4 years later and the references to the KKK are still here and still undocumented. 155.213.224.59 (talk) 17:19, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

The following passage, currently in the 1960s/70s section, belongs in the 1940s section:
After its signature personality Arthur Godfrey left WTOP in 1948 to concentrate on his television and midday network radio shows, the station gradually faded in popularity as it faced competition from the Washington Star's WMAL with the morning team of Harden and Weaver, and NBC-owned WRC which featured future Today Show personality Willard Scott.

- Not done. It seems worded to cover a gap between the two.--Canoe1967 (talk) 06:48, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Can you please put that WTOP-FM as of November 2015 is the #1 rated station not owned by iHeartMedia or CBS Radio?

External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on WTOP-FM. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}

Typo found. Please change "Mike McGraph" to "Mike McGrath". There are 2 occurrences of the misspelling in the Recurring Segments section at the bottom.

In the first paragraph, change "The studios are located in the McLean Gardens neighborhood on D.C.'s northwest side" to "...located in 'FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS.'

Major content placement issue
editMost articles on here detail the history of the radio station in context with the broadcast license being issue, not the history of the intellectual property. WTOP's history pre-2006 needs to be moved to WFED, and WGMS's history pre-2006 needs to be moved here. Even though people regard WTOP as having "moved" to 103.5, in reality, WTOP-FM is broadcasting over WGMS's original license, and WFED is broadcasting over WTOP's original license. They changed call letters and formats; thus, the current WTOP is the successor station to the original WTOP (1500 AM). Nathan Obral (talk) 22:29, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
