Is gold in USA & Australia and New Zeland!!!!

Certification

edit

We Can't Stop has been certified double platinum by the RIAA. It's even stated in the article so I don't know why it was removed from the Certification Chart. "...and has exceeded sales of two million copies." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.4.121.100 (talk) 08:23, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Logan Lynn Arrangement Isn't Accurate

edit

Someone who edits only information about Logan Lynn (not saying it's him but make your own judgment) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/76.115.54.155 is putting on this page that the version Cyrus performed on SNL was his arrangement. This is his accordion-based arrangement - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/16/logan-lynn-miley-cyrus-we-cant-stop_n_3934607.html

It's nothing like his.

Additionally, the 'source' for this information is his own website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.168.154.170 (talk) 00:21, 7 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Critical reception

edit

The second paragraph in the article says the song "received generally mixed reviews from music critics", but then in the "Critical reception" section it says the critical reaction was positive. Which one is it? --Bleff (talk) 00:30, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

One of my favorite songs. I'll do the review — Simon (talk) 08:03, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lead
  • "We Can't Stop" is a song by American recording artist Miley Cyrus for her fourth studio album Bangerz (2013) ---> I think "taken from" is more suitable than "for"
  Done
  • as the lead single from the record ---> from the album
  Done
  • that lyrically talks ---> remove "lyrically"
  Done
  • reached at ---> grammar
  Done
  • reaching 100 million views in ---> within
  Done
Background
  • In 2012, Cyrus announced plans to focus on her film career ---> Past tense
  • I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure of the revision you're requesting, since "announced" is the past tense of that verb.
  • Cyrus announced that the track would be released on June 3, commenting that "it really just turned out to be perfect and exactly what [she] wanted, and exactly what [she] wanted [her] first sound to be, and [her] first look to be" ---> what's with the "[]"?
I don't know if I'm right to butt in here, but I just wanted to say that "[]" are used to add information in the quote that makes it easier to understand and adds clarity, without resorting to modify the quote itself. The words inside the square brackets are not a part of the quote itself, but instead just makes particular stuff, for example who the person was referring to, clear. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 13:06, 9 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
@WonderBoy1998: Comments from other editors are welcome in GA reviews, don't worry! @: The reason I included the brackets was because the original quote by Miley was given in the first-person. My idea was that if I'm referring to Cyrus in the third-person throughout the article, it would be odd if the sentences alternated between the first and third person; like WonderBoy1998 has suggested, the brackets indicate that the text has been modified from the original quote, including changing/adding a couple small words.
@WikiRedactor: If you add the "[her]" or "[she]" in the quote, that must be a passive sentence. But here is the active form, so the quote couldn't change its subject — Simon (talk) 04:48, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
@: Very well then, I've changed the quotes you pointed out and I looked through the article to make sure I changed ones in later sections as well.
Composition
  • Cyrus clarified that she was referring to ecstasy, commenting that "if you’re aged ten it’s 'Miley', if you know what [she's] talking about then you know. [She] just wanted it to be played on the radio and they’ve already had to edit it so much." ---> Again, it's her quote so she's talking about "me", not "her"
Please see above.
Critical
  • The section seems fine, but there are many quotes, try to change the quotes into your own sentence
  Done
Commercial
  • In its seventh week on the chart, the track reached number two on the chart, ---> Repetition of "chart"
  Done
  • "We Can't Stop" reached number eight on the Ö3 Austria Top 40;[36] it also peaked at numbers 11 and 20 on the Belgian Ultratop in Wallonia and Flanders, respectively.[36] "We Can't Stop" reached number 11 on the Danish Tracklisten,[36] where it was also recognized with a platinum certification.[37] The song reached number three on the Norwegian VG-lista,[36] and number five on both the Spanish Singles Chart and the Swedish Sverigetopplistan,[36] number seven on the Irish Singles Chart,[36] and number nine in the Czech Republic.[38] The track also reached number ten on the The Official Lebanese Top 20.[39] ---> Repetition of "reached", try to find other words such as "peaked at", "charted at" or something else
