Redirect
editI searched for "William Fallon" and it didn't redirect here. I don't know how to create those redirect things, but maybe someone will stumble upon this who can set it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.98.161.36 (talk • contribs)
Joe 17:05, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Searching for articles, works by Fallon. Unlike Gen. Petraeus, it's not as easy to find articles or other writings by Adm. Fallon at least on a first pass. Have others found evidence of printed works by Fallon, to give a better sense of his strategic thinking? jfdunphy 5:04, 13 May 2007 (UTC).
i forget how to do redirects so i google "wikiepedia redirects" to relearn it. here's the link. shout if you need helpGodspeed John Glenn! Will 10:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC. Too early in the morning, I see where the Jokestress had redirected.Godspeed John Glenn! Will 10:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Relationship with Petraeus
editShould we add something about his apparently pretty strained relationship with Petraeus? http://www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=39235 217.116.235.64 21:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I do think that his attitude to the mission, and hence the tension to his subordinate, should be mentioned here, but only with a relatively short note. Mausch 11:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'd like to see it documented somewhere a little more... reputable. It was GWB who gave Fallon his position, so if you're a conspiracy theorist, there's no reason to think Bush would put someone in that position who was going to demand an Iraq withdrawal. --TheCynic 07:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
The tension with Petraeus is not just with Irak but with Iran. Petraeus seems to be giving Bush the pretext for war with Iran, but Fallon is saying that War is not inevitable nor desirable. We invaded Irak b/c of supposed WMD but now making a copper disc for an EFP cannot be made in a machine shop in Mesopotamia but has to be imported from Iran. For Fallon in the news recently on War with Iran. See No Iran war, says US admiral Financial TimesGodspeed John Glenn! Will 10:30, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
The source for the ft.com article was al-Jazeera! That's not really what I had in mind when I suggested we find a "more reputable source". Although it all makes a lot more sense now that we know where the story originated. --TheCynic 02:42, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
unsubstantiated material
editI am moving unsubstantaited material to this page. Specifically the message below "On January 15th 2008, CENTCOM will host Mr. Ahmed Bedier, an executive director with the radical Islamic front organization CAIR (Council on Islamic Relations) as the keynote speaker of the Senior Leadership Series. Admiral Fallon’s approval of the highly controversial CAIR has drawn widespread condemnation from active duty members of CENTCOM."
Please provide a source! Otherwise this can not be allowed under wikipedia NPOVBayspatriot (talk) 03:03, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
1st naval officer vs 1st naval flight officer
editIt is correct to say that ADM Fallon was the 1st naval officer to head central command. CentCom is a unified command which controls all of the branchs of the service in it's Area of Responsibility. Past commanders have been army generals as well as marine generals. ADM Fallon was the 1st naval officer to command. There have been no air force generals commanding. Claffey27 (talk) 16:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
