As with Talk:William J. Murphy (Jesuit)/GA1, not expecting to have too much to pick at.

Early life

edit
  • Is his mentioned sister his only known sibling? (May-or-may-not be in-scope, but stood out to me per "quality-assessed articles should generally answer questions they raise" -- how common/rare was it at the time for multiple children in one religiously devout family to enter the priesthood/sisterhood?)
  • McGarry attended Hamilton grammar school, and in 1904, McGarry enrolled at Boston College High School is somewhat repetitive. Is his pre-high-school education relevant in the first place?
    • I've condensed the two sentences. Because only little is known about his early life and education, I think it is worthwhile to mention the type of early schooling he had. Ergo Sum 19:51, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Jesuit formation

edit
  • Regency (Jesuit) could use the link. (That article could use some work, but...)
  • In his fourth year, McGarry taught astronomy, French, and mathematics, as well as a philosophy class for pre-medical students, at the university. I'm not sold on the necessity of the "at the university" clause.
    • I think it does provide some clarification because he was teaching at both the university and the high school during this time, so this clarifies which classes were at which institutions. Ergo Sum 19:54, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • The jump between his being requested to continue teaching to him finally going to the Pontifical Biblical Institute is a touch abrupt -- is there some way to scaffold further between these?
    • I'm not really sure what else can be said, since the sources provide no further insight into this period of his life. Anything else I think would be superfluous. Ergo Sum 19:54, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Do we know why he was able to finish his studies early?

More to come. Vaticidalprophet 13:50, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Just checking in to see whether you have any other feedback, @Vaticidalprophet:. Ergo Sum 15:43, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the delay, was spotchecking a couple sources and time got ahead of me! I don't see any prose issues in the later sections that would hold up a promotion. Vaticidalprophet 00:29, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
