Gaylord Perry
editIs there anyway someone can add, "Gaylord Perry" to the famous people from Williamston, North Carolina list? Thanks. --Jennie Ambrose 09:14, 6 September 2005 (UTC), Williamston, NC
I'm guessing it's okay that I went ahead and added a new sub-category about Gaylord Perry? It's been 3 months. --Jennie Ambrose 05:39, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
editCORRECT PRONOUNCIATION IT WILLIAM-STON! Please leave your Jamesville, Williamston High School rivalries off of wikipedia! --Jennie Ambrose 03:10, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
I understand that for me to add my name in facetious manner to the notable persons list is considered vandalism. What I do not understand is why Justin Ward, Daniel Williams, and Stephen Lilley-all of whom I went to high school with-are considered notable persons. I cannot think of anything particularly notable that any of them have done.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.216.120.93 (talk • contribs)
- I've removed the unsourced listings. They were probably just what you mentioned -- people adding their own names in a facetious manner. Thank you for pointing those out. SWAdair 05:13, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
This page includes a derogatory, biased comment about Williamston. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.252.78.81 (talk) 14:52, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
History
editin my research, i recall the town being burnt down after the 'battle' of rawl's mill, with the confederates retreating up to fort branch after pulling out of the rawl's mill area. correct me if im wrong on any of that but im pretty sure the town being burnt down is important.(i dont recall the dates but late 1860s is my guess)- LeTeufel1918 (talk) 04:38, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Nov. 2nd 1862~, Maj. Gen John G. Foster union, Col. Henry G. Burgwyn Jr CSA,
- "5 prisoners paroled at williamston"-carolana.com in reference to John G. Foster's return march.
- Foster was one of Burgwyn's professors at West Point.
- aiding on, foster's mill, gardner bridge, little creek(same day as rawl's mill) all happened around williamston or led to action in williamston(rawl's and little).
- all of this was sourced from Carolana.com and NCpedia which have their citations. LeTeufel1918 (talk) 04:59, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- also i heard of a planned march by Martin Luther King, Jr. would be nice if somebody investigated further on that. also not history related but i think a few notables are missing as i did a quick search and more than shown popped up, needs more investigation as well.
