Fleet

There's also a River Patrol Unit (http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/river_patrol/) don't know what type of boats though but those should go on the list if anyone knows what they are or can find out.24.78.210.56 (talk) 10:02, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

WPS got an EC120 Hummingbird helicopter May this year (http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/press/2010/05may/2010_05_07.stm#helicopter).24.78.203.2 (talk) 21:40, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

merge police museum

edit

I suggest merging the police museum here as it is a stub on a topic that would make a good subsection here, but is not a standalone article as it is. Chris 22:23, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aboriginal Issues

edit

I added a section on the service's controversies involving Aboriginals. Comments are welcome. Justinfr (talk) 14:20, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've also added material about the Taman Inquiry, which could likely be developed into its own article. justinfr (talk) 18:00, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Winnipeg Police Service. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Criticism

edit

The recently added section regarding the widespread criticism that WPS received regarding missing and murdered Indigenous women is accurate and very up to date. Fannycaire (talk) 20:34, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

A discussion about this topic has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law Enforcement. --10mmsocket (talk) 11:36, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

The Justice 4 Black Lives petition was released shortly before a peaceful protest at Manitoba legislature. "The group believes many local communities and grassroots organizations could take over the legal responsibilities of police" [1]. I believe this section does a good job at summarizing the demands of the petition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AOB9 (talkcontribs) 03:34, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

FYI I just reposted your comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law Enforcement. Thank you. That's a good link. --10mmsocket (talk) 07:53, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Shouldn't this right here be the best place to discuss this? the WikiProject Law Enforcement posting was presumably just to bring extra eyes here not open up a discussion there. Meanwhile any discussion about the reliability of the website "WPG Police Cause Harm" is best conducted at the reliable source noticeboard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#WPG_Police_Cause_Harm BobFromBrockley (talk) 09:38, 30 March 2023 (UTC) (But I agree that CBC is a good source to include in the article. Fully agree. Dilution of the discussion / confusion is a problem with WP:FORUMSHOPPING. I have closed the discussion on the Wikiproject and redirected people here. 10mmsocket (talk) 10:58, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@10mmsocket Copy/pasting my comment from the other thread here: For the record, @magnolia677 is not being accurate when they call WPCH a "personal blog." It is a community organization that regularly engages in civic life in Winnipeg and regularly presents at the city council meetings. Also, the WPCH article that's been linked to is accurate, and is written by James Wilt, an established journalist with bylines at many respected news outlets including The Narwhal, Vice News, Canadian Dimension, The National Observer and the Edmonton Journal, and has published books with Penguin Random House. Magnolia677 might disagree with criticism of the Winnipeg Police Service, but the idea that the sources are inaccurate or not reflective of public discourse around the Winnipeg Police Service is just flat-out wrong and betrays that the user is either completely uninformed about this topic, or has an axe to grind about this particular topic. Either way, I don't think they should be allowed to make any further edits on this page. 50.72.38.127 (talk) 23:18, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
