Deleting this page
editYesterday, I've created this page (under my loggin name Farine) about the Wonder Boy franchise. Since the Wonder Boy page was already used for the first game in the series, I've created this page to dedicate an article to the whole Wonder Boy series.
Then I decided to copy the content of this article to the Wonder Boy page and transfered the content of the first game into a new page called Wonder Boy (video game). Doing this was done by using the "copy", "paste" and "delete" buttons of my keyboard since I didn't know how to rename pages on Wikipedia. Now that this article of this page has been transfered and updated in Wonder Boy, the Wonder Boy (series) page no longer has its purpose so I'm suggesting to delete it completely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.201.147.96 (talk • contribs)
- It's taken some effort, but I have just corrected the copy & paste move of this page, per a request on Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. In doing so, I have merged the edits so that the edit history has not been lost. I have left an article on the game series at Wonder Boy, and moved the article on the first game in this series to Wonder Boy (video game). If anyone disagrees with this please discuss, and gain consens for, an alternative move on this talk page. Do not simply copy & paste the article to a new location! └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 18:29, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was No consensus to move. Cúchullain t/c 15:05, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Wonder Boy → Monster World – Wonder Boy was the name of the first game and the nickname of the first playable character (Bock Lee Temjin "Tom-Tom the Wonder Boy"). The name of the series is Monster World, despite numbering and localization incongruities. Sega has released at least two compilations of the series, Monster World Complete Collection, and now Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World. The section Wonder Boy#Game classification by series is unsourced OR. All games claimed to be not part of the "subseries" Monster World are included in the Monster World Complete Collection. Several games in the series do not feature the character of "Wonder Boy" at all; Wonder Boy in Monster World stars Shion, Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair stars Leo & Princess Purapril, & Monster World IV stars Asha in "the final chapter in the classic Monster World series!" I recommend that this page be moved from Wonder Boy, and that Wonder Boy (video game) be moved there afterward. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 23:07, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Move - Gotta love how the Infobox says in bold "Wonder Boy" with a logo just under that says... "MW". Also, if you want to move a second page, convert this into a multimove. :) Salvidrim! 18:39, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Sega Ages collection is simply Sega associating the project with a more familiar name, as there were more "Monster World" (gameplay) games released than "Wonder Boy" (gameplay) ones. The branding of these collections cannot deny the initial branding that they choose to embrace anyway. In fact, the back of the box for that collection specifically mentions a "Monster World" series and a "Wonder Boy" series. Also note that the new downloadable collection does not contain any "Wonder Boy" (gameplay) games.
- This is not a series being renamed over time, but is instead more like Dragon Slayer. The name "Wonder Boy" should be kept because that name makes up the series as a whole, as well as the original games in that series. If anything, we should have two separate articles, something I don't approve of either. I would recommend that the logo of the original game be used instead of the MW logo. - Oppose. The games were originally released under the Wonder Boy name in all regions and no recent titles have been released under the sole title Monster World. So it's not like Dragon Quest. No, the compilations don't count since the individual games still use the Wonder Boy title. The fact that Wonder Boy doesn't appear in all the games has no bearing - Zelda doesn't appear in all of The Legend of Zelda games either. Maybe if a new game featuring Wonder Boy and using only the Monster World name was released, there'd be an argument, but not now. --Jtalledo (talk) 21:59, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Ports column
editThe game list under "Ports" header is largely incomplete. It could be enhanced, but Wonder Boy alone (first game) was ported to a huge number of systems and naming all of them would make the whole table row crowded and misaligned, since it has a picture on the right side. All the ports are detailed in their respective game pages, so this column seems not so useful and should probably be deleted. 95.232.124.240 (talk) 22:58, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
editAccording to the official blog, Monster Boy is an official successor in the series. They cooperate with the original series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa (former WESTONE) and licensed all assets from LAT corporation.
So I suggest to include Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom to the Main Series articles
Who owns Wonder Boy?
editThe article doesn't make that clear to me. Westone went defunct in 2016 but there were new Wonder Boy games - who actually controls this IP today? 121.214.40.244 (talk) 07:30, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
The LAT Corporation. Be a dear and add this to the article please, someone. http://monsterboy.com/blog/index.php?/archives/21-Monster-Boy-QA-What-is-Monster-Boy.html 101.160.5.230 (talk) 08:43, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Sega and LAT own the rights to the series, which they then license out to those making remakes/follow-ups (Dotemu, FDG, etc.) Wonchop (talk) 16:29, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
