Feedback from New Page Review process

edit

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: With an h-factor of 28 and 2574 citations in Google Scholar notability is dubious as he had no major awards (or none mentioned here). The claim of more than 300 papers looks odd.

Ldm1954 (talk) 16:53, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

According to Wikipedia:Notability (academics)#Specific_criteria_notes, article meets at least one criterie:
2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level: He recived State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (national level), Prize after Barabashov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine [uk] (national level) and the «Basic Sciense Book Award» of International Academy of Astronautics (international level) Appsoft4 (talk) 18:25, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Appsoft4, not really. When I look at the State Prize, not only was this joint but a very large number of others received it. The award is for a paper, not for a major achievement so does not qualify under #C2. The second might, I am not certain. A Book Award does not.
As mentioned before, the claim of 300 papers is unverified and should be removed unless you can provide evidence.
Please do not remove tags, that is very rude. Fix everything (there are many other issues) then request that the tag be removed. Ldm1954 (talk) 20:31, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

When I look at the State Prize, not only was this joint but a very large number of others received it.

There is no such exclusion reason for Criterion 2, so here it is only your own opinion.
Anyway, Second and Third awards fits to Criterion 2:
  • "Some less significant academic honors and awards that confer a high level of academic prestige can also be used to satisfy Criterion 2. Examples may include certain awards, honors and prizes of notable academic societies, of notable foundations and trusts (e.g., the Guggenheim Fellowship, Linguapax Prize), etc."
, and so I would remove questioned notability template again.
If you want to help improve article, help to find more sources and add more references.
Do not add unrelated templates basing on your own opinion. Appsoft4 (talk) 21:16, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you do that without validating statements such as 300 papers it becomes a candidate for a wider discussion on notability. Ldm1954 (talk) 21:18, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
300 papers verified via ORCID, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Yakiv_Pavlenko#c-Appsoft4-20241029212500-Ldm1954-20241029203100 Appsoft4 (talk) 21:30, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

As mentioned before, the claim of 300 papers is unverified and should be removed unless you can provide evidence.

On his ORCID page, there are 321 publications listed at the moment: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7615-4028 Appsoft4 (talk) 21:25, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Moving material of lesser importance to talk page for discussion

Since 2005, Visiting Research Fellow at University of Hertfordshire, UK.[1]

In 2013, during his annual stay visit at IAC,[2] Pavlenko held a seminar talk[3][4] on Molecular Astrophysics.[5][6]

In 2015, the collaborative research work The Search for Exoplanets at U.Chile was presented at ESO Exoplanet Focus Meeting in Vitacura.[7]

In July 2024, at the International scientific conference Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine — 1944 and beyond. Impact of international cooperation, commemorated to the 80th Anniversary of MAO NASU, Pavlenko presented results of his research work, done together with British astrophysicists, on spectral analysis of the Proxima Centauri.[8][9]

edit

I prefer to keep pages about passed away person clean of dummy talks. No need to hurt readers with all the talks, that was fully inappropriate.

AfD of this page was initiated unfair in the first place, ignoring all the proofs. It was resolved, no need to keep past talk.

If I placed back some references and links, decided by other editors inappropriate, please, bring a minute to review my last edit before rolling back my last edits in whole ta once.

And if you really decides something to be excluded from last edits, select only parts already removed from the article (and add the valuable reason why it is inappropriate in revert edit description), but not delete all the new content I (or anyone alse) adds.

Also, I think some removed links are valuable (especially the last years publications on exocomets), even other editors think otherwise.

About video and interview (audio) publications links: there was only 5 or 6 public appearance of the person in the media available on the web. I guess its important and should be kept in the article. @Appsoft4 and Ldm1954: I think it would be valuable to collect discussion here rather than on editors' talk pages, so that other editors will see it, and perhaps join in the discussion to achieve a wider consensus.
The one thing that I think might be valuable to restore would be the visiting research fellow at University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, as I saw from the higher-cited papers that Pavlenko often gave this as his affiliation. As to which research papers are included, I broadly picked the top seven by citations in Google Scholar, with a slight preference towards spread over time and against those with huge numbers of authors. I think it would be possible to add one more recent one, if Appsoft4 could decide on a single recent paper?
As to video material, that was just moved to external links? Espresso Addict (talk) 15:20, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
