"Article's Intro."
editSomeone must fix that, I don't know how. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.112.6.104 (talk) 22:25, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I agree, maybe the intro should be rephrased as Yakko Warner, Wakko Warner, and Dot "Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third" Warner or Yakko Warner, Wakko Warner, and Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third "Dot" Warner. Any other ideas? 98.166.139.216 (talk) 19:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Why not call it "The Warners, Yakko, Wakko and Dot."
Yakko Warner, Wakko Warner, and Dot "Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the Third" Warner is to long! I like The Warners, Yakko, Wakko and Dot
thats a good name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dotsacutietootie101 (talk • contribs) 17:46, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Nice article. Can you explain the use of the word "inkblotted" and the linking of same? "Inkblotted" redirects to blackface; I don't see the connection. I suspect that "inkblotted" may be a specialized animation term, but if so the link to "blackface" and therefore the linkage here weaken the article. Certainly the Warners weren't racial stereotypes in the way, say, Heckle & Jekyll were. Jgm 01:37, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I've been trying to figure this out for some time. Every time I change it, the same person edits it back in. (This is also apparently the anonymous user who created the inkblotted redirect to blackface, so I'm sure that connection is deliberate. Also note that said redirect is listed on rfd, for what it's worth.) The consensus seems to be that it should not be linked to blackface - they are characters that could reasonably be said to resemble ink blots, but there is actually evidence of a deliberate attempt to avoid having them look like blackface characters. (Note the change of Bosco to look like the Warners when he makes a Tiny Tunes cameo.) I just don't get it - if anything, they have white-painted faces, not black.
- If you are the one who is doing this, and you are reading this, please talk to us! If you have evidence to back your claims, please share it! If it's true, it's important information. (But without evidence, I prefer to think better of the folks who made this cartoon and assume it isn't true.)
- I also keep removing this paragraph, because it's the wrong POV and I don't know how to correct it:
- "All three of us are performed in the Animaniacs band as vocalists, and they are typically managed by their human "dad" and leader; Dr. Otto Scratchansniff."
- --Aranel 03:15, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- A bit more research finds a few instances of the term "inkblot characters" for non-specific animal cartoon characters; I've tried to clarify this in the text. I don't know whether the term is meant in the psychological sense (ie. they can be whatever animal you see in them), the physical sense (ie. the black-ink ears and head), or both, however. Jgm 13:43, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- There is a user who repeatedly adds grammatically awkward text without any discussion. It is quite frustrating. I believe that the paragraph you are referring to is one of his creations. It is even more annoying because some of his edits are valid. However, as is our policy with vandals, we have to revert his useful edits along with his harmful ones. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 15:52, Sep 8, 2004 (UTC)
About that...well, The Warner trio do have inkblotted like faces, but, not black. If the show got racial critisism, then it would already be on this (the artical) page. - Shadow the Hedgehog 6:05, 23 October 2006
If anything they follow the old mickey mouse art style with a black body white face and white hands (Pre colour tv) and they do represent pre colour characters. are there any other examples of this art style in the past that maybe backs this up. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is almost identical to them and felix the cat is pretty similar aswell. I also Looked at several articles and With mickey mouse the gloves were added so the hands could be animated near the body without disappearing. White characters on backgrounds that tended to be white probably wouldn't work in older animations and an entirely black face would fail to show pupils and facial expressions especially when the characters tend to have nothing but pupils as eyes and a nose that would be black on most animals. someone deleted the second half of this post in the discussion previously, I'm re-entering it because i feel it's worth the research into the character design.
Hey again. I have a question about the "band" you keep referring to, of which Yakko Wakko and Dot are members of. Is this from a particular episode or is a recurring element? I've also posted this on your talk page, please respond or these edits will have to be reverted like your other ones. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 16:10, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC)
Yes, it is a recurring thing, as they do play instruments various times through the series, and it is a musical cartoon. Check out the artical I wrote about it. - Shadow the Hedgehog 6:07, October 23, 2006 (UTC)
Wakko's accent
editThe article says Wakko's accent is a Scouse accent, but I read the description of that accent and see very little similarity... - furrykef (Talk at me) 14:17, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Probably this references to the iMDB entry on the voice actor Jess Harnell: "Based the voice of Wakko Warner on Beatle Ringo Starr." - SoWhy 13:47, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it also has that Jess Harnell did a John Lennon like voice, but when he saw that the character was short, he raised the pitch. - Shadow the Hedgehog 18:03, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
It's funny because I always thought that Wakko sounded like George Harrison and it seems I was told he was in fact modeled after George. To read that he was modeled after Ringo and the voice was more of a high-pitched John seems odd, especially when you listen to the actual voice of George Harrison and then listen to Wakko. It's obvious to me, that if you raise the pitch of John's voice, you get George, sort of. *smile* Dmoorefield68 13:11, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Harnell has repeatedly said it's based on Ringo. Now, he may have been thinking George and saying Ringo, but he says Ringo. -- Jay Maynard 13:13, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
In the interview for the Volume 1 DVDs he says Lennon. I'm starting to think that Jess himself isn't sure which Beatle he was going for. Roundelais 20:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah well I know I'm several years late to this conversation but if you watch this clip it seems pretty obvious that Wakko's voice is clearly modeled after George Harrison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpDRl2uD3_c Siddhartha21 (talk) 02:33, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Musicians - Prose
editThe musicians section needs a little cleaning up... Maybe just collapsing the headers and getting rid of "just the major ones".--Htmlism 21:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Fictional dogs and fictional orphans categories
editWhoever you are, please stop adding this article to the fictional dogs and fictional orphans categories:
- Fictional dogs: The Warners are not dogs. They are not any particular species at all. They explicitly deny they are dogs and cats, as well as several other things, in the cartoon What Are We?. The show's creators repeatedly have said they're not anything in particular.
- Fictional orphans: They are not orphans. They were created as completely new characters, as shown in the Newsreel of the Stars opening to several episodes. They play orphans in Wakko's Wish, but that's a role they adopt for that one story. The announcer on Cartoon Network was simply wrong, and is not an authoritative source.
Finally, your combative edit summaries are not helpful or appropriate. If you keep adding these bogus categories to the article, they will keep getting removed. If you keep adding them long enough, the article is likely to be semi-protected so that anonymous editors cannot edit it at all. Please stop. -- Jay Maynard 03:19, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't care! Also, we don't their parents. Plus, they use the same names in Wakko's Wish.
- (I know this is a ridiculously long time after this page has been touched last, but here goes nothing.) Pretty much everything in Wakko's Wish, arguably even including the Warner's personalities for the most part, should not be considered canon. I must also add that their personalities and roles described in the current article are still leaning a bit toward the belief in Wakko's Wish as canon, it seems. Fictional extraterrestrials?
editSomeone added this category to the article, as well as "The trio are actually aliens, but are variously referred to as animals", etc. I haven't seen every episode, but this just seems wrong, and I've removed it. While the species is deliberately unclear, they're (within the show) cartoon characters, created by the animators at Warner Bros., right here on Earth, in a way like the Toons in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. PaulGS 19:01, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
monkeys?
editno one's mentioned that they've been called monkeys in a song by the professor. ("don't know what to say the monkeys won't do")
does that deserve a mention in the "species" section?
they're a fictional species like marsupilami --Lerdthenerd 19:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Terrible Pictures
editThe Pictures of both Yakko and Wakko could be a lot better. If anyone can get some please do. - User:Grant-Sud Jan/13/2009.
I think Yakko's picture is horible and wakko's isn't much better, if I could change it I would but I don't know how. If someone knows how to change them Please do! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.122.51.193 (talk) 21:03, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Dot Warner.JPG
editImage:Dot Warner.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Japanese voices
editWhat is the relevance of the Japanese voice actors? Either we should list all international voice actors or just leave the information out. Albertonykus (talk) 00:24, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Yakko's age
editIn Yakko's bio, the lead sentence states that he is twelve. Farther down in parenthesis, it states that his age is unknown, but beleived to be about ten. I removed the parenthetical reference to his age, since it contradicted the lead. I kept the age 12 reference because it seemed to be written in the same style (and by inference the same person) that give the ages in the bios of Wakko and Dot. It seemed that the parenthetical reference was added after the fact and caused the contradiction. If you feel this is wrong, please revert. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Van Vidrine (talk • contribs) 17:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

editAre there any good images of the characters that we could use for the infobox? I think it'd be best if we tried to find another since this one has Pinky and the Brain in it as well. – Harry Blue5 (talk • contribs) 20:30, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Irrelevant Info
editI've edited out some information that was irrelevant to the article at hand and some that was basically a stab in the dark (all falling under WP:NOTE). For one, they've never stated their names in response to "what are you". They've always responded with "cute" (usually Dot stating it). If this is incorrect, I'd like to see the episode in question (not because I'm daring you or anything, but just because it's an episode I've missed somehow, and want to see it). Yakko's belt itself is black; the buckle is yellow (possibly gold colored IRL). They all pretty much play all instruments, although I did leave that part alone for the moment. He's not "seen" as the oldest, he is the oldest, and always was the oldest (reference: Animaniacs Bible). They've all been shown to walk backwards just as easily as forwards, so the point is irrelevant to Wakko. I wasn't sure what the "Uran/Dot" bit had to do with anything, but left it.
Wakko doesn't actually have a deeper voice than Yakko; it just sounds like it (they're both mezzo sopranos, but if you want to pick one, Yakko's lowest note was recorded as G3 and Wakko's as Bb3 at MusicNotes.com, however I will disclaim that they both went lower than this in the show, but are generally shown to have the same vocal range, even in speaking). There were times their voices were indistinguishable, even despite Wakko's accent (which I've always believed was Liverpudlian [and based off Ringo], but I know nothing of England's accents [or the members of the Beatles], so I didn't bother).
Not only is handedness irrelevant, all three were seen switching hands constantly throughout the series. Then, Yakko was seen multiple times before and after that episode (which one? I know he said it, but I've seen only the ending to that episode [where they pop out of the tower at the end of the show], and not the whole thing) eating dairy products, but the point is moot anyways considering it contributes nothing to the article (this is about personality, not medical conditions). Then, the article talks about the Animaniacs Bible, then turns around and makes an unsupported claim about Wakko being hypoglycemic- it states in the AB that he eats things for shock value and to see if they taste good.
Just to show that I have made these edits in good faith, I have a theory about their ages based on the episodes (in other words, things I observed in the show, just like the info I edited out) "Big Candy Store", "A Quake", "When You're Traveling From Nantucket", and "Hello Nurse" (ironically, they said Wakko only said he was 7 to rhyme, but even THAT supports my theory), but I'm not allowed to put, even tentatively, that they were 7, 4, and 3 when the show aired because the claim is unsupported. Notability states that there needs to be a third party source, and none of the information I removed had one, just like my theory doesn't. I'm also not allowed to put that Yakko is a Gemini, Wakko is a Capricorn, and Dot is a Leo, although astrology backs me up (pretend for a moment you believe it works for the sake of this argument). Why? No third party source.
Most of the edits made (with the exception of Dot's part) are unsubstantiated wishful thinking by fans conveniently ignoring counterevidence just because they don't like it (hey, I'm a lefty, and I'd like Yakko to be left handed just as much as anyone, but it cannot be verified), and the claims made about Yakko and Wakko need to stop being circulated, because they simply are not true, and are irrelevant in any context besides fanfiction (where they still aren't true, but it doesn't matter since it's fiction). And now that I'm being dragged off to the "Please Please Please Get a Life Foundation" by the Warners, I will end this overly long post.
Edit: About the handedness, I'm left handed due to a birth defect (this is important), but I can actually use that hand just as well as my left (that was why). I'm technically ambidextrous, and just because Yakko may show preference for his left hand, that would still make him ambidextrous (and I should stop calling myself left handed as well). 74.177.99.101 (talk) 10:26, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- "Hey, that was delicious! Thanks for the snacks. I'm hypoglycemic, I get munchy attacks." ~Wakko Warner (The Kid in the Lid)
- Whether his line was serious or a joke the claim is supported. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.238.0.184 (talk) 03:20, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- 'kay, I'm probably gonna regret getting involved in this (especially on the first day), but Wikipedia needs a third party source for all claims. The claim still isn't supported just because Wakko said it. Plus, taking that to its logical final conclusion, that would mean that everything about the show is true- that the Warners really are psychiatrists ("Dezanitized", at the end), they're really cowfolk ("Sound of Warners", when they were trying to make the nanny woman mad), etc.
I personally will believe the rumors circulating (Yakko's left handed/lactose intolerant; Wakko's hypoglycemic) when someone shows me where a writer or producer et al actually said they were. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MissTeek (talk • contribs) 07:21, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
