controversy
editAnybody know what Haaretz is referring to here with this bit:
A few hours earlier, another storm erupted when the Knesset's House Committee debated the demand of eight MKs for an urgent Knesset debate about utterances about Arabs by Ramle Mayor Yoel Lavi.
MKs Dov Khenin and Mohammad Barakeh (Hadash) and Nadia Hilo (Labor) appealed the Knesset's decision not to approve the urgency of the motions for the agenda. The debate swiftly swerved to the sexually obscene statements about Arabs Lavi made to a local Ramle newspaper.
MK Nissim Ze'ev (Shas), appalled on hearing a quote of Lavi's statement, attacked MK Yoram Marciano (Labor) for quoting Lavi. "How can you say such things in the Knesset? This is not a market place!
I cant find much in English about Lavi said or how widely covered it may have been. nableezy - 19:35, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
