@Joshua Jonathan: This article needs to be a separate article, because Yoga philosophy school is not equivalent to the text, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Yoga school of Hinduism has a lot of ancient and modern literature, discussing its epistemology, metaphysics, axiology, soteriology, and the rest. Your thoughts? Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 14:20, 21 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
JJ, I like the article split. For an introduction to "the Yoga school of Hinduism" and its other five schools, see Carl Olson's The Many Colors of Hinduism: A Thematic-historical Introduction Chapter 5 (Rutgers University Press, ISBN978-0813540689). There is a lot more depth and literature on this school outside of Yogasutra. See, for example, Karl Potter's bibliography of the Yoga school of philosophy, on pages 1073-1093 of Encyclopedia of Indian Philosophies: Bibliography, Volumes 1-2 (Motilal Banarsidass, ISBN978-8120803084). I will expand this article. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 15:23, 21 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Who's idea was it to split the topic of Yoga between 'Yoga and Yoga(philosophy)'? This decision seems schizophrenic to me, considering the fact that what some may call "the philosophy" of Yoga actually explains the very reason that an individual would even take up the practice to begin with. It IS a 'schizophrenic' decision; there's no reason for a Yoga article other than it's one of the six official schools of Hindu philosophy: all other aspects fall under that, despite what average readers/editors outside wikipedias in India may not know.--dchmelik (t|c) 02:03, 1 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
