Genre
It should have glam metal as a secondary genre.
It has the characteristics required, such as catchy hooks, pop-influenced guitar riffs (mentioned in the article), and prominent vocal harmonies, and Bon Jovi themselves adopted a glam metal look. 49.196.172.185 (talk) 07:40, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Is this not the same song as "Shot through the heart" which appeared on JBJ's debut album: Bon Jovi?
I can't see any difference
"Shot through the heart, and your to blame, darling
You give love a bad name"
- No, they are two completely different songs with different lyrics, music, and everything.Abog 06:14, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, they're very different, when I was originally trying to acquire "You Give Love a Bad Name" I accidently got "Shot Through the Heart" and then realized it wasn't the song I heard on the radio at all. Pretty confusing. Useight 02:30, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Why is Blake's song on this page. It should have a different page or not as big of a section on this page. The main reason is because Blake doesn't deserve anywhere near as much credit for this song on this page. This is a page about Bon Jovi's song not Blake's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.36.212.101 (talk) 05:37, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Seconded. Blake's should be briefly mentioned at best, yet his "contribution" (rather Bon Jovi's contribution to him!) takes up a significant portion of the page.
- Since the article for 'Raise Your Hands' was deleted due to the lack of significant information (just that it was in Spaceballs and is a fan favorite), it could probably get a small section here because it's the B-side and all, and the fact that it was in a movie is at least worth mentioning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.226.81.131 (talk) 20:54, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Song structure section
"Desmond Child ... pinched the tune from his earlier hit for Bonnie Tyler, "If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man)." doesn't seem NPOV. Anyone have any objections to it being removed? M4557 23:37, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Blake Lewis EP (1).jpg
The image Image:Blake Lewis EP (1).jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

WikiProject Bon Jovi proposal
I have proposed the creation of a WikiProject Bon Jovi here. If you would like to join or give input, please comment there. Thanks! Toa Nidhiki05 19:56, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Hard rock?
This song is just all Glam Metal and it really represents the genre well. This is not Hard rock. Some of their songs are Hard rock but this sounds like Glam Metal at it's best. Bon Jovi back in the 80s, were mostly a Glam Metal band. That is it. Only Glam Metal which is also called Hair Metal or Pop Metal. This song is not Hard rock. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thecallinggrunge (talk • contribs) 22:23, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- Around that time, a lot of glam metal and hard rock was intertwined so closely to the point of being almost impossible to separate them on stylistic merit. Looking back, nothing much has changed. Unless we start getting really anal about the sub-sub-genres of hard rock itself (e.g. Guns N' Roses vs early Def Leppard, Dokken vs Poison, etc.) it's best to just keep both so as to not confuse the casual reader. At least nobody is clamouring for heavy metal to be added as a genre, even though AllMusic lists both heavy metal and hard rock as genres for the song. I'm pretty sure there are other sources which also list hard rock. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 00:24, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
Yet another Hard Rock section
I see lots of people clamoring to take out Hard Rock from this page. I scoff at those people because they don't know anything about music apparently. But not only do I think hard rock should stay, I think it should come before glam metal. When I think of glam metal I think of the poppy Def Leppard "Hystaria" stuff. This is a straight up hard rocker, and I may even push for a "heavy metal" genre to be put in there, as it does have those heavy riffs during the verses. 108.81.33.59 (talk) 22:53, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- To include both glam metal and heavy metal is overkill and cruft. Either one of them can cover it, but both are not needed. Heavy metal, though? Iron Maiden is heavy metal. Black Sabbath is heavy metal. Guns N' Roses, a hard rock act, often borders on heavy metal. At the most, this song is glammed-up hard rock. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 02:45, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
