Fix Page

edit

Can someone fix Yuffie's page? Ryu Ematsu

Crush?!

edit

How does Yuffie have a crush on Leon? I haven't heard anything about this. Can someone fill me in? Ryu Ematsu

If you talk to Yuffie after Sora talks to Leon right before he leaves Traverse Town for the first time, Yuffie will say "Squa- err, Leon can be so cute sometimes!" (I'm not certain if the quote is word-by-word correct). Note, you can ONLY find this if you talk to her after Leon mentions the Dalmations. Calling someone cute may or may not, to some people, indicate you have a crush on another person, but can serve as a debatable basis.

Well, you can go off of that considering Kingdom Hearts is a Alternate Universe. Ryu Ematsu

Princess Occupation

edit

Yuffie, a princess?? What on Earth?? -Unknown

Yuffie is, in fact, the daughter of the ruler of pretty much an entire continent. Anyone who had played her sub-quest would know this. -RannXXV 17:39, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Its only if you want to be really technical. -- Psi edit 17:56, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I suppose. Good thing this isn't an encyclopedia or something. OH WAIT. -RannXXV 02:41, 22 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Were it not, you could expect to see more content from rabid fans and at least two subsections on why Yuffie was the best character in FF7. -Idyll 01:04:55, 13 March 2006
What? You're assuming that Yuffie's father is royalty. I thought Godo was more of a state emperor, and Yuffie wouldn't necessarily inherit command. Instead Godo's right hand would. And at this point I realise the first discussion on this page is the most ridiculous. — CuaHL 01:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
This is indeed a controversial claim. There is no mention of this in the article. Until it is mentioned that she is considered a princess, with backup of royal status, I suggest we remove her from the category. Tyciol 05:18, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
So, is anyone going to back up the claim? If she's not a princess (meaning, her father needs to be a king, or equivilent, even better if she's called Princess...) then I'll remove her from the category. If she IS, then I'd like to add her to my Warrior princess list. Tyciol 18:40, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Her father rules Wutai. In the English version of the game, the people in the pagoda call her "Miss Yuffie", but I'd be willing to bet they originally called her "Yuffie-sama". (Be nice if someone could source that, but hey.) While it's still not "Yuffie-hime", I think it's pretty obvious she's considered royalty of SOME sort. Personally, I think the whole "well no one ever outright calls her Princess or Godai King/Emperor/etc." to be rather silly... Godai rules over the single town we see of Wutai. To say that he's not an Emperor or whatever and thus Yuffie a princess just because it's never stated in those exact terms would be like saying that Shinra actually has little power outside of some manufacturing, energy production, and hiring out guards, even though it's pretty plain to anyone that's played the game that they run everything. -RannXXV 03:34, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Odd. I saw a few citations a while back.

Prosthetic Leg

edit

Does she have a prosthetic leg?

No, definitely not. Watch Advent Children, play the game, or research if you are still unsure. Observation 14:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deleting the part about the Dirge of Cerberus opening movie taking place in the ending..cause that's dead wrong.

edit

If one goes through Dirge of Cerberus and remembers what exactly happened in Final Fantasy VII, the opening event clearly takes place after the Diamond Weapon fight and NOT the ending. I'll direct you to this link here on Adventchildren.net where this was established. The password is "Vincent"

http://forums.adventchildren.net/showthread.php?t=63585&page=2&pp=15

This was established for the Vincent article as well.

I posted on the Vincent article too but I looked over the link and see the problem about deleting the DoC part is that the forum is nothing but pure specluation by fans while Nomura has said that the intro to Dirge explains where they were. I know it doesn't fit in with the Maiden Who Travels the Planet but the Maiden is what fans have put into the Compilation, its closer to fan fiction than an offical story, while On a Way to a Smile does seem to fit in with the continuty better than Maiden I stil say both aren't Square-Enix productions making them side-stories. Since this is an enyclopedia we should go with the official explanation which is that Yuffie and Vincent both were in Midgar while the rest of the party were on the Highwind flying around during Meteor. J-Axe
Nomura never said that was the reason, only that during the production of Dirge of Cerberus, they intended to include a reason as to why. But given the visual evidence and blatant inconsistency with the original game and story, there is no reason at all to believe that the opening is said reason. THAT would be speculation. We know what the ending of FFVII looked like, and DoC's opening looks nothing like that, let alone how in AC it shows everyone being in the final battle against Sephiroth. Also Maiden Who Travels the Planet was overdone by Square and approved by the creators, so it's canon, thus contradicting it would definately go against the factual nature of the article. There is no proof at all the opening takes place during the ending. Trying to preport otherwise is speculation going against the grain of the story.198.213.57.8 06:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Makoeyes987Reply

The Maiden who travels the planet was written by the person who wrote the story for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, etc... So it is canon. And On the Way to a Smile was in V-Jump's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Prologue, so it's canon too. Ryu Ematsu

Kingdom Hearts

edit

Shouldn't we also upload a picture of Yuffie as she appears in KH1? Some people would like to see visuals about this whole "KH1 Yuffie/Rikku" thing by looking at her outfit. On top of that, many of the FF characters that appeared in the KH series has had their official artworks (drawn by Tetsuya Nomura) upload on Wikipedia, so I think we should upload this one, as well: http://www.kh2.co.uk/assets/kh/artwork/038.jpg NeoSeifer

Alright, then. If no one will say anything, I'll put up the picture myself. NeoSeifer

No crush

edit

People keep posting articles saying Yuffie has a crush on Vincent Valentine or is in love with him in DoC when it’s just not true there are not any facts that point to this. People like the fan pairing so much their blind to the fact that the she is no romantic feelings for him or anybody in DoC for that matter. The only person she ever seems to have any kind of romantic feelings for in the FFVII universe is Cloud and even that’s debatable. Can we prevent this from happening in the future?

not a option

edit

in some cds of ff7 there was a defect and yuffie had to be in the party to beat the game. i know this is true my cd was one of them. Mambi55 07:15, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA push

edit

All right. I am going help work on taking this article to GA status. So, here's what we need to do

  • Appearances - looks good
  • Lead section - also looks good, but needs expanding on the reception.
  • Reception section - looks good, but needs some more reviews as well.
  • Creation and development - looks good, but needs a bit more on development, especially with interviews with Tetsuya Nomura as well. A paragraph on the voice acting should also help, but we must find reviews and interviews with the voice actresses, namely Yumi Kakazu, Christy Carlson Romano and Mae Whitman.
  • References - must have a consistent format throughout.
  • Other - needs to undergo a thorough copyediting

Other than that, I think it looks good enough to pass for GA. Any other opinions would be appreciated. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 19:00, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Criteria

edit
Good Article Status - Review Criteria

A good article is—

  1. Well-written:
  2. (a) the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct; and
    (b) it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.[1]
  3. Verifiable with no original research:
  4. (a) it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline;
    (b) reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose);[2] and
    (c) it contains no original research.
  5. Broad in its coverage:
  6. (a) it addresses the main aspects of the topic;[3] and
    (b) it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
  7. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
  8. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
  9. [4]
  10. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
  11. [5]
    (a) media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content; and
    (b) media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.[6]

Review

edit
  1. Well-written:
  2. Criteria Notes Result
    (a) (prose) Chronology of her appearances can be confused with her age chronologically in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII subsection. While this is also a weird way to list different games under the section; each game was separate they can confuse the reader. Its minor, but I really believe that fixing the 'appearances' should be removed from the 'personality' aspect, with the latter being its own subsection.  Y
    (b) (MoS) No concerns  Y
  3. Verifiable with no original research:
  4. Criteria Notes Result
    (a) (references) Sticks to the material pretty well.  Y
    (b) (citations to reliable sources) Its appropriate  Y
    (c) (original research) One point, "During later development of the game, the Final Fantasy VII team thought about removing both Yuffie and Vincent Valentine due to time limitations, but both were made as hidden characters." Probably covered in the source, but that should be cited. It is a major claim which can be disputed as original research and not intentional.  Y
  5. Broad in its coverage:
  6. Criteria Notes Result
    (a) (major aspects) Covers the official material in detail  Y
    (b) (focused) Deals with the role in said material.  Y
  7. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
  8. Notes Result
    No concerns.  Y
  9. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
  10. Notes Result
    No edit wars.  Y
  11. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
  12. Criteria Notes Result
    (a) (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales) The reviewer has no notes here.  Y
    (b) (appropriate use with suitable captions) The reviewer has no notes here.  Y

Discussion

edit

Splitting the 'Personality' aspect from the 'Appearance' is my only concern, its not terribly bad, but its not brilliant either. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 22:16, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Additional Notes

edit
  1. ^ Compliance with other aspects of the Manual of Style, or the Manual of Style mainpage or subpages of the guides listed, is not required for good articles.
  2. ^ Either parenthetical references or footnotes can be used for in-line citations, but not both in the same article.
  3. ^ This requirement is significantly weaker than the "comprehensiveness" required of featured articles; it allows shorter articles, articles that do not cover every major fact or detail, and overviews of large topics.
  4. ^ Vandalism reversions, proposals to split or merge content, good faith improvements to the page (such as copy editing), and changes based on reviewers' suggestions do not apply. Nominations for articles that are unstable because of unconstructive editing should be placed on hold.
  5. ^ Other media, such as video and sound clips, are also covered by this criterion.
  6. ^ The presence of images is not, in itself, a requirement. However, if images (or other media) with acceptable copyright status are appropriate and readily available, then some such images should be provided.
