Hmmm, not a lot of comments here... Okay, anything on her father is going to cause debate, but I don't believe there is any *documented proof* that he ordered any massacres. I'm not fan of the man but if we can't document this, then we shouldn't state it. So, until someone's got the document, I'm changing "ordered massacres" to "occurred under his command". My apologies to those that were closer to this subject (say, in-country at the time) than I. Will Hughes (talk) 21:47, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Killed journalist
editThe journalist mentioned to have been killed, was actually running away from the mob and the anxiety and exhaustion made him suffer a heart stroke. I corrected it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.148.204.56 (talk) 12:50, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Rios Montt "routinely accused"?
editI intend to change the following tendentious phrase:
"Zury Rios' father, a former Guatemalan army general and President of Guatemala, was routinely accused by human rights groups of genocide and other crimes against humanity."
"Routinely accused" etc. rather suggests a smear campaign against Rios Montt, who in fact, as is acknowledged further on in this article and in that on general Rios Montt himself, was a putschist responsible for intensifying the "domestic armed conflict" through state terror, and was later convicted of crimes against humanity by a Guatemalan court. There is really little room for discussion here. Moreover, Zury Rios never avowed the crimes of her father - understandable, perhaps, in a daughter, but unforgivable for a politician.Retal (talk) 01:37, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
