Amazing Grace (2018 film)
edit... that the documentary film Amazing Grace was being captured whilst Aretha Franklin (pictured) was performing Amazing Grace?- ALT1:
... that Aretha Franklin (pictured) shot Amazing Grace at age of 29 although the film was released after her death at 76. - ALT2:
... that the film Amazing Grace shows Aretha Franklin (pictured) recording the 1972 live album of the same name, which became the highest selling gospel album of all time? Source:TimeNew Yorker

- I would use the following: (... that the film Amazing Grace shows Aretha Franklin (pictured) recording the 1972 live album of the same name, which became the highest selling gospel album of all time?) instead of the first hook as it shows the full context of why it is important. The second hook would not work because it implies that Franklin shot/directed the film, but that is not the case. Aoba47 (talk) 22:35, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Aoba47: Thanks for the suggestion, I've replaced the hook. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 15:47, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

- @CAPTAIN MEDUSA: please do not edit over previous hooks; it makes it impossible for the prep promoter to follow the discussion. I have restored the thread and added (and struck through) the additional hooks.
- @Aoba47: Per Rule H2, you cannot approve your own hook. Another reviewer is needed for ALT2. Yoninah (talk) 17:04, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

- ALT2 is properly cited with the two combined citations above. The hooks is interesting, and properly mentioned in the article. The relevant photo is clear at a low resolution and properly licensed. Flibirigit (talk) 01:00, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, and added the image to the article per Wikipedia:Did you know#Images. However, the entire Documentary section is copied from Amazing Grace (Aretha Franklin album). Per Rule A5, since that text is more than 7 days old, the text must be expanded 5x in this new article to qualify. Yoninah (talk) 11:53, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

@Yoninah: Thank you for letting me know. I apologize for missing that during my initial review. This would honestly be something for the nominator (@CAPTAIN MEDUSA:), but it seems to me that this should be pulled/withdrawn if it does not meet the criteria for a DYK. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention and I will be more aware of it in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 13:30, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: I have rewritten the article. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 17:49, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- @CAPTAIN MEDUSA: thank you, but actually, you have expanded the lead with text copied from the body, which is really unnecessary. Rewriting the Documentary section was the ideal approach. But whatever you rewrote needs serious copyediting for English grammar. The word "however" is being overused. Yoninah (talk) 17:58, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: I have done some copyediting. Can you check the article. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 18:21, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- @CAPTAIN MEDUSA: OK, rather than explain all the problems, I went ahead and edited the article for you. I added a bit from the sources. Back to the hook, I think you are overlooking the hookiest part of this subject, that it took 46 years to release it. IMO it would be more interesting to mention the long delay due to audio syncing and legal problems, than direct the focus away from the film to the album. Yoninah (talk) 19:17, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- ALT3:...
that the film Amazing Grace took 46 years to release due to difficulties syncing the audio with the video?
- ALT4:...
that the film Amazing Grace's release date was postponed for 46 years as a result of synchronization? - ALT5:...
that the film Amazing Grace was delayed for 46 years for not using a clapperboard?
- ALT5 could work with a little more explanation:
- ALT5a: ... that a documentary film of Aretha Franklin's (pictured) Amazing Grace concert in 1972 languished in a studio vault for decades because the director did not use a clapperboard? Yoninah (talk) 20:22, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
- Review needed of new ALT hooks. BlueMoonset (talk) 13:32, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Question: I see the photo on Franklin on this nomination page, but it's not in the article. Are we putting the individual photo of Franklin into the article, or not? Flibirigit (talk) 03:22, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- The photo was briefly added to the article on May 2 by Yoninah before being removed by her later that day. Whoever ultimately promotes this nomination to prep needs to be aware that they cannot make this a lead hook if the photo is not in the article, and the reviewer here should note whether it is in the article or not at the time they approve the nomination. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:33, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Yoninah, CAPTAIN MEDUSA, and Aoba47: It would be nice to have a photo hook option. Please let me know soon. I want to review this before I go to bed tonight. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 17:23, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Flibirigit: It is always to have a photo hook option, but I do not see the value of adding the picture to the article. There is already an image of Franklin in the poster, and I cannot see a place to add it where it would not interfere with the infobox in some way. Aoba47 (talk) 17:27, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

ALT5a is hooky, mentioned inline, and properly cited. The photo used in the hook is also properly licensed and used in the article. Previous concerns above about the amount the new text have also been addressed. I have struck ALT3, ALT4 and ALT5, as they are not as hooky. ALT5a is approved with the photo.
