Boxing in Armenia

- ALT 1: *... that boxing in Armenia existed since at least the 4th century?
(Hook): I like the second one better, although I'm not sure if it may be too short; I find it interesting and it was sourced here. (New enough): Yes, it was created on 24 Nov. and submitted for review 5 days later. (Long enough): Just fine. I seems like the article might have been done at a sandbox and then posted, but that doesn't matter. (Sources): all of them seem to be reliable. (No plagiarism/close paraphrasing): This is were the problem is. I noticed that there is close-paraphrasing, especially when it says "A memorial plate, now on display at the Olympic Museum in Olympia, Greece, details his win as the most honored champion of the 291st Olympiad" and the source says "now in display at the Olympic Museum in Olympia, Greece, details his win as the most honored champion of the 291st Olympiad." Other sources that are not paraphrased don't support the text. For example, you mentioned that the 1970s and 1980s "is considered the golden era of Armenian boxing", but the source never claims that. Please be careful paraphrasing the sources and adding stuff in your own words. I'll try to help a little. Cheers. ComputerJA (talk) 01:25, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
- I rewrote the close paraphrased sentence. I can't really say much about the second issue. It was written by User:TheShadowCrow. I might have to ask him where he got that from.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 05:20, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. I also noticed that the "bare-knuckle" reference is not supported in the given citation. Aside from that and what you mentioned, I'd say the article is good to go. ComputerJA (talk) 05:48, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- The source says The images made on the rocks in the area of Armenia show that boxing as a single combat sport existed here as a performed event more than 2000 years ago. Don't you think it talks about Bare-knuckle boxing, which is the original form of boxing? Does the source has to state that in exact words? Logic should be applied sometimes.
- Also, it wasn't written by User:TheShadowCrow. I did it. He wrote the history section of Weightlifting in Armenia and I got confused. Again, the source says During 1970-1990, boxing reached its peak. What the problem here? --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 21:36, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

- I'm sure that common sense could be applied elsewhere, but I'm aiming towards verification and not just what "common sense" is. Remember that common sense is not objective – sources are.
- As for the "golden era", I think the wording is the problem. It says that the 1970s and 1980s "is considered the golden era of Armenian boxing", but it doesn't say who considers it a golden era. Perhaps mentioning it directly like "the 1970s and 1980s were the golden era of Armenian boxing" would be good. ComputerJA (talk) 23:55, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Waiting for reply so we can move to passing nomination. ComputerJA (talk) 23:56, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I do agree that common sense isn't objective, but bare-knuckle boxing was the only type of boxing that existed back then., but whatever, I removed both phrases. I don't wanna make a big deal out of them. --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 04:31, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Fixes have been addressed. The article is good to go. Thank you, Yerevanci. ComputerJA (talk) 04:45, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Did You Know requires a minimum of one inline citation per paragraph. Currently, there are two uncited paragraphs in the 'Independent era' section. The last sentence of the second paragraph of that section could also do with rephrasing. Other than that, this would be good to go. Moswento talky 10:10, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

- You're still missing references. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:06, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- If you're talking about this sentence (In amateur boxing, Armenian athletes have been relatively successful. Nshan Munchyan became a World Champion in 1993 in Light Flyweight. Hovhannes Danielyan (2008), Eduard Hambardzumyan (2008) and Hrachik Javakhyan (2010) became Champions of Europe.) then its sources are given in the tables below.--Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 16:42, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, new review needed. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:01, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- that paragraph is still unreferenced by a footnote. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:38, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

- confirmed, and in that case good to go with ALT1 hook. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:15, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
