Burnley Savings and Loans
edit... that the Bank of Dave gives every penny of its profits to charity?
ALT1: ... that the Bank of Dave keeps the key to its safe behind the cherryade?
Created/expanded by Rcsprinter123 (talk). Self nom at 13:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Concerned that it's all cited to his press coverage - and we don't cover that he's acting as a broker rather than a bank. However it's long enough, new enough and the original hook is okay. The alt hook seems too much of a random throw away part of the HuffPo article and I'm not sure we should take it literally. Secretlondon (talk) 17:35, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- Presuming this is 4th self nom and hence no QPQ needed. Secretlondon (talk) 17:46, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Regarding the alt hook, it isn't totally random as I watched the TV programme and it showed it there. However it is unlikely to be kept there properly or permanently or it would have been stolen by now. Using the original hook is fine by me but it looks a bit plain and run-of-the-mill; perhaps somebody could fill it out a bit more and put some more interesting info there? - ALT2 ... that Bank on Dave, an alternative to high street banks in Burnley, Lancashire, now has a waiting list for would-be customers?
- I added a little information from the Guardian article and propose the above ALT. Note that it should not be piped to Bank of Dave, and that a piped link requires we supply geographical context in the hook. Also there's apparently a legal problem with use of the word "depositors", so I've avoided that in both article and hook. Yngvadottir (talk) 14:36, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hurrah for Yngvadottir! Those article edits and hook have eliminated the issues, IMO. However, I'm troubled by the idea of using "Main Street" (which I think of as an American term) in a British context, where "high street" is the typical usage. Thoughts on that? --Orlady (talk) 15:10, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- : ALT2 (tweaked per above for high street vs main street) checked out, should be good to go once more; (I've made some slight additions but I don't think that disqualifies me from reviewing the hook), Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 15:42, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, my apologies, I just got up and also borked the citation template. Thanks both for helping. Yngvadottir (talk) 15:47, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Adding a high street wikilink to ALT2, since it isn't a universal term; striking the original two hooks as problematic. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:38, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
