Casey Conway

edit

:* ALT0a: ... that recently-out former rugby league player Casey Conway, now a youth worker, is one of a few Australian Aboriginal male models?

Created by OwenBlacker (talk). Self-nominated at 08:00, 27 October 2015 (UTC).

  • This article was created on October 26, it is long enough, QPQ is satisfied, the hooks are under 200 characters, and the hooks are interesting. However, there are two issues that need to be addressed before this hook can be approved. First, can you please resolve the orphan tag by creating wikilinks to this article from other articles? Second, unless I missed something, the NITV article did not say he was "one of the first Aboriginal male models". It's probably true that he is one of the first, but can you provide another source to substantiate this claim? OwenBlacker, once those issues have been resolved, I can approve these hooks. • I have just posted a reminder on OwenBlacker's talk page that the issues really do need to be resolved, since there has been no action at all on them. May I suggest that another few days be given for progress to be made? Two weeks from the reminder above would be a generous time period. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:55, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks, BlueMoonset. Although the orphan tag no longer appears in the article page, there is only one other article that links to Casey Conway. OwenBlacker, please be sure to add external links to the article, and please make sure to resolve the issues with the claim that Conway is "one of the first Aboriginal male models". • Sorry everyone, I've been very busy with non-wiki stuff lately and let this slide again; thank you for your continued patience. I've not been able to find a source that uses the wording "one of the first", so I've tweaked the wording of the first hook; might ALT1 be better, though? (I'm not great at writing these hooks.) I've added a few more links to the article as well. Better? :o) — OwenBlacker (Talk) 21:59, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT1 is good to go. This article was created on October 26, it is long enough, QPQ is satisfied, the hook is under 200 characters, the hooks is interesting, and the assertions in the hook are supported by an inline citation to a reliable source. Additionally, the article satisfies all relevant policies (it is neutral, verifiable, and no close paraphrasing). I could not approve ALT0a because the NITV article did not say that he is one of only a few aboriginal male models. I made a minor change to the language of the article to accurately reflect the source. Also, this article is no longer an orphan now that links have been added from other articles. Congrats on passing this DYK review! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 22:27, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
