Cherry Marshall

edit
  • ... that model agent Cherry Marshall discovered Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Britain? Source: "she prospered enough to open an office in Mayfair and become one of the most influential forces in the fashion industry in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Among the models she groomed was Ruth Ellis, the last female in England to be hanged for murder." (and [1] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)

  • Edwardx, QPQ needed, and while the hook says "last woman to be hanged," the source says last woman to be hanged for murder. Otherwise new, in time, long enough, sourced, neutral, and no apparent copyvios. --Usernameunique (talk) 06:04, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
  • This has been waiting over four weeks for its QPQ, and it's been nearly two weeks without addressing the hook issue as well. Prompt action is needed. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:08, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
  • I've taken the liberty of fixing the hook, and will ping the nominator on their talk page. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:05, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Hook fixed, and QPQ provided. Edwardx, if I remember correctly from a few weeks ago, she was also the last woman to be hanged in England, for murder or anything else. It's not necessary, but if you care to look for a proper source, the qualifier "for murder" could be removed from the hook and article. --Usernameunique (talk) 15:42, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Usernameunique. Guardian source found and added to the article. Hook now reads "the last woman to be hanged in Britain". Edwardx (talk) 16:21, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Edwardx. As a general matter, next time please do not edit a hook that has already been approved, as that always creates the risk of a hook going through that shouldn't. Reticking to make it clear that it is not the case here, however. --Usernameunique (talk) 16:40, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure that the Ruth Ellis article can be featured in a link on the main page, as it has several tags on it. Yoninah (talk) 20:40, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Yoninah. Those tags were added sometime after the hook was crafted. Was not aware that a DYK hook should not include a link to an article with tags. How about we just unlink Ruth Ellis? After all, I would rather readers clicked on Cherry Marshall. Edwardx (talk) 13:59, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
  • I think that's a good idea. Restoring tick per Usernameunique's review. Yoninah (talk) 15:41, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
