Chester Nez
edit- ... that Chester Nez was the last of the original Navajo code talkers who served in World War II?
- QPQ: Halo: The Master Chief Collection
- Comment: The hook is to make aware that he was the last surviving NCT, period. They are all dead, now. — CAW
Created/expanded by CAWylie (talk). Self nominated at 12:19, 5 June 2014 (UTC).
- Length, date, hook checks out. However, Some close paraphrase found, such as "that children were often removed from reservations, put into boarding schools, and prohibited from even speaking". --Soman (talk) 14:59, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

- Also, QPQ is needed. From what I can see, only User:CAWylie has made significant contributions to the article. --Soman (talk) 15:02, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- I only created this as a temporary redirect so that people searching for him wouldn't come up totally empty. I have nothing to do with the actual article itself. I have therefore removed my name from above. jcgoble3 (talk) 17:14, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Also, this is currently nominated at WP:ITN/C as well, and the discussion is beginning to swing toward possible consensus for listing in "Recent deaths". It should appear here or on ITN, but not both. jcgoble3 (talk) 17:25, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've made a couple of small tweaks, to make the blurb more accurate and to link Navajo language rather than Navajo people. Smurrayinchester 20:25, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've moved on from this DYK. Approve it or remove it, it's off my watchlist (and ITN, for that matter). — Wyliepedia 07:49, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Review update. The positive part of Soman's original review still stands (new enough, long enough, hook is acceptable and short enough, and checks out with online citation #1). The ITN nom is now closed. QPQ now done. Close paraphrase issue now resolved. Text is objective, neutral, fully-cited. No disambig links; all external links accessible. Good to go. --Storye book (talk) 17:19, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
