Chipping Norton set
edit... that according to Jeremy Clarkson the Chipping Norton set weren't discussing News Corporation's bid for BSkyB, they were talking about sausage rolls?
Created/expanded by Gareth E Kegg (talk). Self nom at 18:55, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
I think this needs to say who uses this phrase. It's really about people who live in the area (and a social circle involving the British prime minister and News International) rather than the term itself. The hook is also confusing as the article says that Clarkson is referring to a Christmas Dinner event in 2010 rather than whether they've ever discussed it at other social gatherings. - Have just pinged the author/nominator again on his talk page. Giving a few days for a response before any further action. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:39, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I think your ping was archived. I appreciate SecretLondon's comment, I'll play it safe with
- ALT1: ... that the Chipping Norton set encompasses characters from British political, social and media circles? Gareth E Kegg (talk) 19:56, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- Your talk page still has both my requests, second from the top. Both should have shown up at the time, or when you were next logged in and on line. I've struck the original hook and denoted your new one as ALT1 for the reviewer to come (and fixed the formatting to DYK style). And speaking of which:
- Nomination needs a full review. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:29, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

- One-minute review has been questioned; absent a more thorough explanation of the criteria used, a new reviewer and subsequent approval is needed. BlueMoonset (talk) 12:43, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- Length is fine. It was converted from a redirect and then expanded enough within the time limit. You have a reference to the telegraph which says that the Chipping Norton Set is a group of powerful politicians and media figures. I'm not sure what you mean by 'social circles', can you be in a political and media circle without being in a social circle? this seems to be your main reference. I think I'd still like to know who uses the term - you say 'informal term', but used by whom? They way DYK works (as I understand it) is that you have the hook in the article somewhere, and an explicit reference. You just about have it in the first sentence but a WP:lede shouldn't really be structured like that. I think you are journalising a bit, to be honest. I still think that the article has a POV and just isn't structured properly. Secretlondon (talk) 23:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm withdrawing my DYK nomination, to work on the article, natch. Join me on the talk page. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 23:29, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
