Deepwater Horizon (film)
edit... that the upcoming film Deepwater Horizon is the true story of the explosion of the offshore oil drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, resulting in a massive oil spill?
- QPQ: Twinkle Khanna
Moved to mainspace by Captain Assassin! (talk). Self-nominated at 11:49, 1 May 2015 (UTC).
- New enough, long enough, meets core content policies. No offense, but the hook is pretty dull. There are lots of true stories about disasters. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 12:09, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Jakec: QPQ is done. What...? Have you seen a true story film about Deepwater Horizon? No...? Then it's new for people. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 03:59, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
ALT1... that an upcoming film is based on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion, which caused the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history? Fuebaey (talk) 16:06, 3 May 2015 (UTC)- Lots of films are the first film about a given subject. Doesn't make it interesting. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 12:49, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- I agree the main hook is fairly dry, and the ALT1 hook is little better. Rather than the hook being essentially "a film about X is being made", I've stumbled across another interesting fact during expansion, and propose:
- ALT2 ... that the upcoming disaster film Deepwater Horizon will be the first onscreen pairing of Kate Hudson and her step-father Kurt Russell? --Animalparty-- (talk) 00:10, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Animalparty: Much better. I've stricken the other hooks. Minor nitpick: the source doesn't say that Russell is Hudson's step-father (perhaps it should be obvious and I'm just being dense?). --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 14:46, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- ALT2 ... that the upcoming disaster film Deepwater Horizon will be the first onscreen pairing of Kate Hudson and her step-father Kurt Russell? --Animalparty-- (talk) 00:10, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a bit complicated.
Russell is married to Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn, making him her stepfather in the basic definition, yet she apparently refers to him as her father, and some sources use "father", even though her biological father is not Russell (I've seen "adoptive father/daughter" as well but don't know if this is accurate). Thus it may be a non-neutral POV or even WP:SYN either way- "father" seems to be the actress' preferred term though it may confuse readers, while "stepfather" seems more accurate yet disagrees with source. If there is a succinct way to avoid "picking sides", I'm all for it. --Animalparty-- (talk) 15:08, 11 May 2015 (UTC)- Oh wait, apparently Russell and Hawn are in a relationship, but not verified as married, so "stepfather" appears unwarranted. My mistake. Any usage we use should be least likely to cause confusion or controversy. --Animalparty-- (talk) 15:15, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a bit complicated.
- ALT3 ... that Mark Wahlberg is playing a real-life hero Mike Williams in the upcoming film Deepwater Horizon?
- ALT4 ... that J. C. Chandor was previously hired to direct the Deepwater Horizon, but replaced by Peter Berg?
