Drew Smyly
edit- ... that Drew Smyly (pictured) was named All-SEC in 2010?

- Comment: I'm not sure which image is better: only one of them is currently in the article, but I could switch it for the other one if this hook gets the image. ALT1 was a hook for my two ten article hooks in late February, so it's probably less advisable:
ALT1: ... that Drew Smyly won the silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games?
ALT2: ... that Drew Smyly received a $1.1 million signing bonus from the Detroit Tigers out of the University of Arkansas?

- Date, hook and source check out. Ready to go. Use the pic on the left if this is pictured. -SusanLesch (talk) 15:15, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- I don't really see how those facts are surprising. Isn't something a bit more unusual about him mentioned in the article?--Carabinieri (talk) 22:30, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, he's making his major league debut for the Tigers on April 12, and he came within two outs of pitching a no-hitter in his first year of college play (as a "redshirt" freshman). Perhaps those two could be combined:
- ALT3: ... that announced new Detroit Tigers pitcher Drew Smyly came within two outs of pitching a college baseball tournament no-hitter while a redshirt freshman at the University of Arkansas?
- Technically, he isn't a Tiger until he's officially called up early next week. We want to avoid violating WP:CRYSTAL, but at the same time he's been announced as joining the starting pitching rotation of the club. If this DYK hook runs after he's been formally called up, the word "announced" can be deleted. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:18, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
