edit- ... that British Major-General Edward Charles Ingouville-Williams (pictured) was killed in action while commanding the 34th Division at the Battle of the Somme?

- Comment: Image might need to be cropped to head and shoulders if it's to be used

- Good to go, I quite like the image as ism why crop it? Darkness Shines (talk) 13:30, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Lots of soldiers get killed in action somewhere, this is a less than compelling hook. Suggest the following:
- ALT1: ... that British Major-General Edward Charles Ingouville-Williams (pictured) saw action in the Second Sudan War and Second Boer War before being killed on the Somme? Gatoclass (talk) 16:50, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Review needed for ALT1 hook, since original hook has been deemed inadequately interesting. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:33, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- I've verified ALT1 but strongly prefer the original hook. Yes, tens of thousands of British soldiers were killed on the Somme, but you can list the number of major generals on your fingers. Given the "chateau generalship" myth, the original hook is far more interesting and engaging. Hawkeye7 (talk) 06:18, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
