José Antonio Raón y Gutiérrez
edit... that José Antonio Raón y Gutiérrez was responsible for the expulsion of Jesuits in the Philippines, pursuant to Charles III of Spain's royal decree of 1767, as well as revising the "Ordinances of Good Government" in 1768, a document drafted by former Governor-General Pedro Manuel de Arandía Santisteban?- ALT1:... that Raón Street in Manila was named after former Governor-General José Antonio Raón y Gutiérrez?

- As for the ALT0, the article is new and long enough, within policy, neutral, cites sources with inline citations, and it is interesting, the hook is referenced and QPQ is provided. Javier Espinoza (talk) 21:28, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Jaespinoza: ALT0 is over 300 characters long! Yoninah (talk) 20:21, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
- New reviewer needed to review pre-existing ALT1; original hook has been struck as being far too long for DYK. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:45, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- ALT2: that Governor-General José Antonio Raón y Gutiérrez was responsible for the expulsion of Jesuits in the Philippines and revising the "Ordinances of Good Government" in 1768? Arius1998 (talk) 05:03, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- ALT2 is 174 characters long, which is 26 characters underneath the 200 character hook limit. That said the sentence in the article is referenced to kahimyang.com which is in its about section a
This site is owned and maintained by a small group of people led by Primo Esteria. We are based in Pennsylvania (US) and in Northern Samar (Philippines).
- This is no garuntee that it meets WP:IRS, and may fall under WP:SPS. Please provide a better reference.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 22:36, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- Found a reliable source for you @Arius1998:: Census of the Philippine Islands: Taken Under the Direction of the Philippine Commission in the Year 1903, in Four Volumes ... U.S. Government Printing Office. 1905. p. 322. . Hope this helps.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 23:00, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset:, can this count as a review for a future DYK QPQ? I had already done one in for my current DYK nomination.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 23:54, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
- RightCowLeftCoast, sure, once you finish the review. Given the issues with the original review, you should probably recheck things like neutrality and close paraphrasing as part of the process. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:42, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

- This is a new review of the article
- New: Article was started on 20 October, and this DYK was submitted on 23 October. At that time the article was 3,749 characters long.
- Long Enough: Article 23 October exceeds 1,500 characters.
- Within Policy: Article appears to be neutral.
- It also does cite sources using inline citations; however, I am considered about the use of a self-published source as there is a book published by AuthorHouse used as a source in this article. Also the website Kahimyang Project, is of questionable merit when judged against WP:IRS. Both of these sources of these source are used four times in the article (as it stands today). Additionally, there article uses a source published by a publishing house calling itself the "Library of Alexandria"; if you look at its own description on Facebook, it too looks like it falls under WP:SPS.
- Copy Vio checker only detects a 16.7% rating, so that isn't an issue IMHO.
- Format: ALT1 is under 100 characters, and ALT2 is under 150 characters (without spaces).
- Content: ALT2 is more interesting IMHO than ALT1, whether it is interesting to a "broad audience" is a matter up for debate. However, I believe it could be argued that ALT2 is interesting to a "broad audience".
- ALT1 is cited to this Tagalog website. ALT2 is cited to one questionable source, but another source from the United States Government Publishing Office.
- This article is not about a WP:BLP, or focus on negative aspects (unless someone was exposed to the past expulsion of Jesuits from Spanish territories).
- QPQ: Submitter claim of reviewing another DYK nomination has been confirmed.
- Image: No image submitted with this DYK nomination
- Summary While this article is borderline of receiving a DYKtickAGF mark, due to issues with usages of SPS sources in this article I must give this DYK Nominitation a non-passing rating. Please resolve the issues and perhaps this DYK Nomination might yet pass. .--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 07:14, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- I hope the issues have been resolved with the removal of the SPS sources.Arius1998 (talk) 07:26, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Arius1998: Please provide a reference for the last sentence of the second paragraph of the Governor General of the Philippines section. Overall, that second section could use more in-line sources.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 21:01, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- Please review the article again. I hope it is sufficient for DYK. Arius1998 (talk) 02:04, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
- I see nothing in the source provided that verifies anything on this "Manila Consulate" or where that quoted organization existed specifically.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 02:10, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings. I have removed the sentence concerned since there is no other available source at the moment other than that of Fish which would mention the "Manila Consulate." I hope this qualifies the article for DYK. Arius1998 (talk) 07:48, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- I am concerned about the claim of corruption in the Death section. It goes largely uncited. Are there more references to this extraordinary claim?--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 03:02, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- This part of Raon's biography is largely taken from the source Philippine Islands. I also believe that it has been consistent with Gentil's own account. I have been trying to find other possible sources for Raon's case offline and online but the most extensive was the aforementioned. While it does seem an extraordinary claim and probably has the bias of the author/s, I may not be able to put additional sources for the time being. I hope this is considered carefully. Thank you for the review. I also hope for its passage as DYK. Arius1998 (talk) 07:13, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
- As requested by BlueMoonset (talk · contribs) I am responding to Arius1998 (talk · contribs). As the claim appears to be extraordinary, and falls under WP:BLPCRIME. Of course one can argue WP:BDP, as the subject of the article in question has been dead for centuries. But as it is extraordinary, perhaps it is best not to include the claim, unless it can be verified by more than one reliable source.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 00:44, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- I have done as recommended. Thank you. Arius1998 (talk) 05:33, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Arius1998: I see the change made here. Given the change I am going to recommend another reviewer give it a fresh review, as it should pass. --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 05:30, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
