La Dori

  • ... that Antonio Cesti's opera La Dori (scene pictured) was premiered at the court of Innsbruck and performed for the wedding of Cosimo III de' Medici?

Same idea, but I think this might be a better wording. Voceditenore (talk) 13:50, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for the support ;) - I just like to keep it short and without links that detract from the "main course", per Andy's advice, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:15, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
  • This article is new enough and long enough. Either hook could be used; the hook facts are reliably sourced and have inline citations. The image is in the public domain, the article is neutral, and I detected no copyright issues. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:33, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
  • I have pulled this one from prep as the hook statement that the opera was first performed at archduke ferdinand's court could not be confirmed from the source. Gatoclass (talk) 22:21, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Gatoclass, the source says La Dori was "his most successful opera for Innsbruck", which I understand to mean created for there. He was in service to the court there from 1652 through 1657, and the opera premiered in 1657; as it was written for Innsbruck, it would be extraordinary (and specifically remarked upon) if it were premiered elsewhere that same year before the archduke he served got to see it. Okay, I'll buy that. I pulled it because I felt the source was not explicit enough about the premiere, but I think you make a pretty good case. Gatoclass (talk) 23:04, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Gatoclass; I've restored the original tick per Cwmhiraeth's original review. ALT1 was the hook that was originally promoted to prep, and I find it more interesting than the original hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:52, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
