- ... that Leland Kirkemo, the skipper of the ship that recovered the crew of Apollo 13, was played by Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell in the movie? Source: " This tour was made memorable because the Iwo was the primary recovery ship for the Apollo-13 space mission. He had the ship positioned within view of the landing of the Apollo capsule, and they literally wrote the book for future recovery efforts. It is not well known that astronaut James Lovell played Dad in the Apollo 13 movie." [1]

Overall: Looks mostly solid. It's a bit dependent on his obituary and sections of his early life feel getting close to being a close paraphrase of it, although I realise no extra source is available on this period I've added extra citation positions to make clear the ultimate source of all the text. I've added two extra reliable sources, a Popular Science report and a mention on the Smithsonian's website. Blythwood (talk) 23:33, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Jim Lovell has passed GA, so added it. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:22, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- A full review of the Jim Lovell article is needed, now that it has been added to this nomination. Blythwood, would you like to do the review, or should another reviewer be found? BlueMoonset (talk) 14:59, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Hawkeye7: I'll take this part, just to speed it along. Article was recently promoted to a GA, is long enough, and has appropriate citations. However, Earwig is picking up pretty close similarities to this page, and given the article's publication date, it does look like they got there first. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/them) 19:22, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- Copied from Wikipedia. The words are mine. It was copied from NASA Astronaut Group 2. I also copied it from there, as noted in the change history of Jim Lovell. [2] Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:43, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
