Martin & Regine: The World Concert Tour
- ...
that before co-headlining the 2003 World Concert Tour, Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez had their respective concert residencies at the Onstage Theater a year before?Source: Martin & Regine take 3 US cities; Martin Return's Onstage; As current as she is classic

- I don't think this hook is really going to work out. Even as a Filipino myself this hook is not going to make sense to non-Filipinos, especially those unfamiliar with either artist. A Wikipedia reader who doesn't know who Martin Nievera or Regine Velasquez are won't get what's so special about this collaboration. Can something else be proposed here, perhaps a hook that could be understood even by people outside the Philippines? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:25, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- NLH5 asked for assistance in the WP:DISCORD for potential hook suggestions, and I think that it would be interesting and understandable to non-Filipinos to do a hook like "... that the 2003 World Concert Tour initially planned to only have concerts in the United States and scheduled concerts later in the Philippines?". - Alt1 ...
that Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez collaborated on the 2003 World Concert Tour twelve years after co-headlining their first concert Voices? - Alt2 ...
that the 2003 World Concert Tour added shows in the Philippines after completing its U.S. leg?--Pseud 14 (talk) 23:31, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- ALT1 is frankly a bad hook and doesn't solve the international interest concerns. ALT2 could probably be improved further since it lacks context about Velasquez and Nievera, or the fact that it wasn't supposed to have Philippine stops at first. - Have at it --Pseud 14 (talk) 02:54, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Would this work then? ALT3

- Full review needed now that new hook has been proposed. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:37, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- Nominated on time, appropriate prose size, no copyright issues or bare URLs. Hooks are okay, we'll go with ALT3 per the above.--NØ 11:46, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14 and Narutolovehinata5: I checked the sources, and I could not verify that the concert was originally supposed to only tour in the Untied States, and both sources mention additional shows in the Philippines. Is there another source that states this, or another ALT suggestion? Thanks, Z1720 (talk) 19:47, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720 and Narutolovehinata5: Checked as well, it's not explicitly stated in the sources, so I think we should use an alternative hook that is cited. And feel free to revise as you find fit. --Pseud 14 (talk) 20:16, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

... that Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez's 2003 World Concert Tour added shows in the Philippines after completing concerts in the United States?--Pseud 14 (talk) 20:16, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14: I tried looking through the sources, but couldn't find that shows in the Philippines were added (only that these shows happened after the US leg). Which source verifies this? Z1720 (talk) 20:28, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720: I understand it doesn't explicitly say it was "added", I think this source mentions that the Philippine shows are a continuation of the U.S. performances, which would suggest that these were additional dates not part of the initially planned show? However, if it seems ambiguous, an alternative would be:
- Alt5 ... that Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez's 2003 World Concert Tour played two repeat shows at the Araneta Coliseum? [1] [2]
- I think the second source says they played at the coliseum four times? Z1720 (talk) 00:02, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720: Total of 4 yes. The main dates announced were May 9 & 10. The repeats were: June 14 (first source), then July 5 (second source, which mentions it already had three prior performances at the coliseum) Pseud 14 (talk) 00:16, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14: I see what is meant now (I've had a long day promoting articles at DYK). ALT5 approved. Z1720 (talk) 00:19, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720: No worries and thanks for the thorough review, most especially since we've now gone to two sets a day. Your efforts at DYK is much appreciated. Pseud 14 (talk) 00:24, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- (Apologies for the late reply, I was asleep when the earlier discussion took place and so I wasn't able to reply immediately): Honestly I'm not convinced that ALT5 appeals to a broad audience either. Sure performing at the Araneta Coliseum is a big deal for Filipino artists, but I'm not sure if non-Filipinos would know that. It also doesn't address my original concerns about the hook being reliant on knowing Nievera or Velasquez. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:47, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14 and Z1720: Looking at the article again, I noticed this quote:
Nievera has described the tour as a "collision of two powerful voices" without the added "gimmick": "We're both balladeers and powerful singers ... so you won't see any dancers, fire eaters and things like that. You'll see two people really singing"
. Maybe a hook based on that could work? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:59, 20 July 2022 (UTC)- ALT6: ... that Martin Nievera said "you won't see any dancers, fire eaters and things like that" at his 2003 World Concert Tour with Regine Velasquez?
- @Narutolovehinata5 and Pseud 14: Thoughts? Z1720 (talk) 16:22, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720: I can't access the source for the fact so I'm assuming good faith. I think it's almost good to go, it may just need a bit of tweaking: the hook says Nievera said the quote at his tour, but the quote seems to be describing the tour (I can't read the source so I can't tell if he said the quote during or before the tour). Pinging Pseud 14 for clarification. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:38, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I think the hook is using "at" to describe what audiences will see if they attend the performance, not that Nievera is saying the quote while physically on the tour. I can access the source: it was published May 3, and Nievera is describing what audiences will see if they attend the performances during the Philippines leg of the tour. Z1720 (talk) 00:48, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- Fair enough, let's go with ALT6. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:53, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
