edit... that Ralph Benatzky wrote libretto and music for Meine Schwester und ich, premiered 1930 in Berlin, as a form of operetta "more intellectual, more cabaret-style"?

- There is rather an absence of references in parts of this article. The synopsis probably does not need to be cited, but the sections "Musical highlights" and "Film adaptations" need some sources. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:23, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
- ... the typical article translated from German, see also. I will search now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:08, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
- I added the IMDb for the films, knowing that it's not considered a reliable source, but better than nothing. I also added refs for two of three hits and two of three films. - I have other things on my mind, - if you need more please let us know. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:13, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
- Cwmhiraeth, where does this nomination stand? BlueMoonset (talk) 20:38, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- This article is new enough and long enough. I added a reference to one paragraph and the article is now adequately referenced, It seems neutral and I found no close paraphrasing issues in the English language sources I inspected. I tweaked the hook to make it more grammatical and flow easier. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:27, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the tick. I am not happy with the tweak, perhaps we need help by the word smiths: what he did - style change of the genre - made this work NOT an operetta, - I can't word that well, but "operetta" (implying the common understanding of the term) for this very work is wrong and about the opposite of what hook is trying to say. I therefore change the hook back, yours is
ALT1: ... that Ralph Benatzky wrote libretto and music for the operetta Meine Schwester und ich, which premiered in Berlin in 1930, giving it a "more intellectual, more cabaret-style"?- I confess that I don't know what "it" is in "giving it". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:40, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I see what you mean. What about Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:42, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- ALT2
... that Ralph Benatzky wrote libretto and music for Meine Schwester und ich, premiered in Berlin in 1930, as a "more intellectual, more cabaret-style" form of operetta?
- That's lovely! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:15, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Going for ALT2 then. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:31, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- There's an issue of the quote: the text "form of operetta" was "forms of operetta" directly continuing after "more cabaret-style" in the original source and in the article. Since the only difference is plural vs. singular, you can't not continue the quote to include the latter, but I'm not sure how to indicate that plural has changed to singular in this case short of putting brackets around "form", which isn't ideal for a hook. While I suppose Gerda is correct in saying that this isn't a traditional operetta, what the source and article are saying is that this is a new form of operetta, which underwent any number of stylistic changes just as opera has changed over the centuries. Here's a stab at ALT3, which modifies the wording a bit and reorders phrases:
- ALT3: ... that Ralph Benatzky wrote the libretto and music for Meine Schwester und ich, a "more intellectual, more cabaret-style" operetta, that premiered in Berlin in 1930?
- If you want, of course, you can remove the strikeout around ALT2 so long as the full quote is indicated. —BlueMoonset (talk) 16:12, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Very thoughtful, and fine with me, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:49, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- I'm glad you liked it, Gerda. Cwmhiraeth, if ALT3 works for you, a new tick will finish this off. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:47, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- ALT3 it is then. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:20, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
