Piri (singer)
... that the drum and bass singer piri funded her music career by setting up an OnlyFans account?Source: https://archive.ph/XYqpG- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/2019 UK Seniors Championship
- Comment: QPQ previously used for Template:Did you know nominations/Henry Lewis (playwright); two were completed but only one was needed.
Created by Launchballer (talk). Self-nominated at 18:42, 15 January 2023 (UTC).
- Non-notable? - The article itself looks fine in terms of length, content, newness, neutrality, etc (just a few minor formatting fixes need done), but from what I can tell, the subject is not currently demonstrated to be notable. The hook is certainly interesting and it appears QPQ has been fulfilled, so I'd be fine if it wasn't for the notability problem. I've opened an AfD for the article, and per WP:DYKR this nomination should be held pending the result of the discussion. AviationFreak💬 22:13, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @AviationFreak: the article has been kept; review can continue? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 21:25, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yep! - I've given the article a second look and agree with my previous review. In fact, the article has improved significantly since then! Notability question resolved at AfD. AviationFreak💬 00:36, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- AviationFreak theleekycauldron I was wondering if it was too late to add an image to the nomination, but I wouldn't know where to start in looking for one.--Launchballer 09:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- Before I upload it, can this Flickr image be used?--Launchballer 14:09, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- I meant this one, but I've just spotted it says 'All rights reserved'. Could I claim 'fair use' and use it just on Wikipedia?--Launchballer 16:10, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Could I use a different hook?
- ALT1: ... that the "updown" singer piri (pictured) funded her music career by setting up an OnlyFans account?Source: https://archive.ph/XYqpG--Launchballer 17:01, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- I managed to get the piri to upload some images to Commons. Could I
a) use the image on the right, and b)use either ALT1 or the following hook: ALT2: ... that the musician and OnlyFans creator piri wrote "updown" about the cowgirl sex position?--Launchballer 20:07, 11 February 2023 (UTC)- I'm ok with ALT1 - I'm not sure how stringent the guidelines are for DYK since the entire fact (i.e., that piri sings "updown") isn't cited under one footnote in the article, but I don't have a problem with it since the hook can be derived from a couple sources in the article. ALT2, however, seems to be cited directly to a TikTok comment which is a primary source and therefore should not appear on the front page. The image looks ok to me - Perhaps a crop would be in order since a large portion of the picture is just whitish/purple flare. Image licensing is not my strong suit but this looks good as CC4.0. I've had all the images on the page cropped. Please use the one on the leftright - as we're talking about her OnlyFans account, it makes sense to use the one used for that section. All use CC4.0.--Launchballer 22:32, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- There are now more sources to support her having a single called updown. I genuinely don't know if this hook will be allowed, but I'll ask anyway, and if not could ALT1 please be used:
- ALT3: ...
that the "updown" singer piri (pictured) uploads "nude photos and videos[, …] lingerie shots [and] pay-per-view masturbation videos" to OnlyFans?Source: https://scan.lancastersu.co.uk/2020/11/26/interview-with-a-student-onlyfans/--Launchballer 14:04, 28 February 2023 (UTC)- Ok. Approved for ALT3, as it is cited in the article and seems reliable enough per WP:INTERVIEW and WP:RSSM. I suppose this is ok for the main page per WP:CENSOR but I also think there is something to be said for avoiding sexually explicit shock-value hooks when other hooks (e.g., ALT1) would suffice. ALT1 is not mentioned/cited in the body of the article (it appears unsourced in the lede, but nowhere else), so I can't approve it. AviationFreak💬 16:09, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- ALT3 is not approved as it violates WP:PROMOTION. I see now that ALT1 is not approved either, mainly because there is no citation for the claim that she used OnlyFans to fund her music career (only that she has an OnlyFans account). Looks like a new hook is needed. Cielquiparle (talk) 23:29, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- The second sentence of the third paragraph of the Pornography section reads as follows, emphasis mine: "As of that article, her OnlyFans account had "about 1,000 to 2,000 fans paying about $12 a month", which after the site had deducted its fees meant she made "between $10,000 and $20,000 a month", which she was able to use to fund her music career, move to north London, and buy a computer and microphone." Failing that,
- ALT4: ... that the "updown" singer piri (pictured) is a member of Loud LDN?--Launchballer 23:50, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Launchballer: Thanks for the clarification. Re-approving ALT1, which actually is cited within the article. ALT4 checks out but is unlikely to be chosen by the promoter because "Loud LDN" will be meaningless to most Wikipedia readers. Pinging @AviationFreak: In case there is something else I missed about your approval and subsequent "can't approve" for ALT1. Cielquiparle (talk) 08:05, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- I do also want to point out to AviationFreak and Launchballer that ALT3 is a pretty flagrant SG?gratuitous infraction. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 09:33, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Also, the image doesn't look very clear at DYK size. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 09:36, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- You want the cropped version, which I've replaced above.--Launchballer 09:37, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Apologies for my mistakes on ALT3; thank you both for the correction/info. AviationFreak💬 16:54, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
