SAM-A-19 Plato

edit
  • ... that the U.S. Army's Plato and FABMDS programs for anti-ballistic missiles wound up evolving into the well-known Patriot missile?
"The system was initially known as Field Army Ballistic Missile Defense System, then as Advanced Air Defense System for the 1970s, then Surface-to-Air Missile-Development, and finally...as Patriot." [1]

New enough, long enough, cites are good, DYK Check is clean. I do have a problem with the actual name not being mentioned in the lede, this isn't being clever or hooky, it's just confusing. Strongly suggest just using the name. Also see talk page. Maury Markowitz (talk) 14:24, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by "lede"? Here though, it's simply reflecting the fact that the article covers two projects equally, while the name is the one that actually received an official designation. If it's felt that the hook would work better as, say, "the U.S. Army's Plato and FABMDS projects for...", though, I don't have a problem with that. - The Bushranger One ping only 07:49, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I strongly suggest expanding the hook to have the names. Lede is short for "lead paragraph" - I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that you haven't run into that one in the last seven years! Maury Markowitz (talk) 03:48, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
@Maury Markowitz: Oh, I have, it's just that I haven't seen it used to refer to a DYK hook! I've made an alteration to the hook above. - The Bushranger One ping only 05:28, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
LOL, I just realized what you meant... I didn't realize I typed "lede" and not "hook". Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:20, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
No worries, I've been there and done that! - The Bushranger One ping only 20:25, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
