Recommendation: a little expansion of the lead section to explain more about the specifics of the case would be helpful. However this is not necessary to run on DYK.
Hook fact is interesting and accurate, verified here.
Article is generally clear and well-organized. Most other references accepted on good faith.
Regarding the hook, I was initially unsure about whether "government" could take a plural. A little research suggests that it can. However, looking again, I see that "government" is taking a singular verb "was" and a plural pronoun "they". Could this be cleared up a little?
Hook needs a little tweaking for grammar. Otherwise, just about ready.
