Square pyramid
... that the square pyramid can be used to construct another new polyhedron?Source: https://books.google.com/books?id=afJdDwAAQBAJ&pg=PA84- Reviewed:
- Comment: This is my first time nominating the DYK. The article is about a square pyramid that, in one of the applications, may be used to construct a new polyhedron. However, I do think this hook may also be used in Pentagonal pyramid if this has already become GA in the future. Maybe someone can find an alternative hook other than the discussion in WT:DYK (see oldid=1186117126).
Improved to Good Article status by Dedhert.Jr (talk). Self-nominated at 01:07, 21 November 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Square pyramid; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
- This is not a review but a comment, but I'm not sure if the hook as currently written would catch attention without illustrations or at least additional context. Perhaps David Eppstein could propose some additional hooks or give additional input here? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:31, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that the square pyramid, famous as the shape of the Egyptian pyramids, has also been used in the design of modern structures including the Louvre Pyramid and the Luxor Las Vegas?
- ALT2 ... that formulas for calculating the volumes of square pyramids go back to ancient Egypt, China, and Babylon?
- ALT3 ... that square pyramids can have different shapes, and pyramidologists have put forward multiple theories for which of these shapes was used for the Egyptian pyramids?

- Thanks David. @Dedhert.Jr: If you don't mind, I've taken the liberty of striking the original hook and leaving just David's hooks for consideration. This is still awaiting a full review. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:12, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

- Full review needed, now that ALT hooks have been suggested. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:37, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- Approve ALT3 The article was nominated a day after GA approval, so is new enough. The article is certainly long enough. The article is well sourced and with proper in-line citations. I see no copyvio issues. The ALT3 hook is cited and interesting, what with the existence of pyramidology mention. This is OP's first nomination, so no QPQ is needed. Looks good to go! - Silver seren, just to clarify, are the other two ALTs not approved? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:22, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- The others are as well, if needed. The reviewer just usually picks which nomination they specifically approve and think is the best to run. SilverserenC 00:27, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Silver seren. I think the practice promoters like myself generally prefer is something like "ALTs X, Y, and Z approved to run; I think Z is the most interesting, and X could also work. Y is a bit dull." Something like that. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:50, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
