Stay With Me Till Dawn

edit

Moved to mainspace by Launchballer (talk). Self-nominated at 13:18, 14 June 2016 (UTC).

  • I don't know of any time limit on draft/sandboxed stuff, and you nominated it within a week of mainspacing it, so I think it passes that part. Article is sourced, neutral, and just long enough. QPQ is done. No copyvio detected. It's a pass. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:16, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
  • The source does not fully support the hook. The copyright was not returned until 1999, but the source does not state that Rocket Records refused to return it in 1991. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:51, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
  • No, I'm sorry: that hook is 230 prose characters (the count includes spaces), far over the absolute maximum of 200 characters. Launchballer, you need to come up with a much shorter hook, and White Arabian Filly, I don't think a hook that includes two instances of the phrase "copyright for the song" is an effective hook whatever its length. More important, Cwmhiraeth's point has not been addressed. The big problem with the hook is that I don't see where the sources support the assertion that the reason the song was re-recorded was because of the copyright issue: there are lots of reasons for not re-releasing an earlier song recording on a new album for a new label (which should be spelled "Columbia"). Absent a specific statement in a reliable source that the new version was recorded because of a copyright issue, you can't include this claim, and if you do find such a source, the article itself will need to have specific wording that she couldn't use the original song because Rocket refused to allow the original version to be reused (for which they had the copyright). Finally, basic orthography needs to be correct for both the hook and the article: all song titles must be in quotes with every mention, and album titles have to be in italics, both for hook and article. (And what's this "one-hit wonder" assertion? Do you have any reliable source that refers to her this way, or is this just your opinion, and thus not appropriate here? Her career seems more varied and impressive than that beyond the raw chart numbers.) BlueMoonset (talk) 00:03, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
ALT2: ... that Stay With Me Till Dawn was rated as the thirty-ninth best song to have come out of Britain by a BBC poll? I've added a source for the one-hit wonder remark; Tzuke meets the definition at one-hit wonder. I've also added the orthography and fixed the typo.--Launchballer 00:59, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
  • You may have fixed some of the orthography, but the title of the article—the song title itself—still doesn't have quotes in much of the article or in the hook, and at least one album isn't in italics. Please take more care. (Also, wasn't that BBC poll mentioned in ALT2 for a specific time period? This isn't the thirty-ninth best British song ever, right?) BlueMoonset (talk) 16:16, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
ALT3 ... that "Stay With Me Till Dawn" was rated as the thirty-ninth best song to have come out of Britain in the first fifty years of the UK Singles Chart by the BBC? It probably is the thirty-ninth best British song ever, given the rubbish that comes out of this country nowadays...--Launchballer 16:32, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
Alt3 appears acceptable. By the way, I can't get the counter tool to run on mobile, and my own counting skills are terrible, which is why I didn't get that the second hook was over length. (I was trying to count the characters manually.) White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:32, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Reopened, hook that was promoted is incorrect, see WT:DYK#Stay with Me hook pulled from Prep 4. Fram (talk) 09:40, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

ALT4: ... that in a poll for Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, "Stay With Me Till Dawn" placed thirty-ninth on a poll seeking to establish Britain's "favourite piece of popular music from the last 50 years performed by a British group or singer"?--Launchballer 00:31, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
  • Launchballer, I'm very sorry, but ALT4 is 240 characters long, well over the 200 character max, and even longer than the 230 character hook that was disallowed last month. I've struck it; please supply a hook that is shorter than the DYK limit. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:30, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
ALT5: ... that Stay With Me Till Dawn by Judie Tzuke out-charted all her other singles by 76 places?--Launchballer 12:04, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
I really don't think that's particularly hooky. Perhaps ALT6 ... that "Stay With Me Till Dawn" was Judie Tzuke's only UK top 40 single? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:43, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
Good enough by me. Let's get another reviewer to confirm it.--Launchballer 12:19, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
  • New reviewer needed to check ALT6. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:33, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
  • hook is referenced, and is short enough. Agree not hugely quirky or interesting but concise enough to be of interest to some, including me. good to go. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 04:47, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
