The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
edit- ... that The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will be broadcast from Studio 6B at NBC Studios in New York City, the same studio where Johnny Carson hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for ten years before moving the show to Burbank, California in 1972?
Created/expanded by Wikipedical (talk). Nominated by Wikipedical (talk) at 05:03, 15 August 2013 (UTC).
- The hook is too long obviously. Even eliminating the article title and "that" won't help matters. Perhaps eliminate duplicity, like "Johnny Carson", and then rephrase the hook? Or make another interesting fact? --George Ho (talk) 05:12, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm. Here's ALT1: ... that The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is set to be broadcast from Studio 6B at NBC Studios in New York City, the same studio where Johnny Carson hosted The Tonight Show from 1962–72?
ALT1a: "... that the Studio 6B at NBC Studios in New York City held Johnny Carson's hostings of The Tonight Show in 1962–72 and will hold Jimmy Fallon's hostings of the show in 2014?" You can rephrase the hook if you want. --George Ho (talk) 05:38, 15 August 2013 (UTC) I'll leave that to another reviewer. --George Ho (talk) 15:42, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- "Holding a hosting" makes no sense. The show will be broadcast from that studio. ALT1 is clearer. -- Wikipedical (talk) 15:36, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Now that ALT1 is created, let's have another reviewer review the article. --George Ho (talk) 16:32, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Dates and lengths for ALT1 and the article meet DYK requirements. No problems with plagiarism spotted but this may be due to other problems spotted in the article. Primary issue with the article is its referencing/sourcing. Example issues include:
- Reference 4 is a bare URL (Rule D3).
- First sentence in the second second paragraph of the lead mentions several people and events that are not mentioned in the supporting source (e.g. Jack Parr, Carson's move to Burbank, and dates for Carson's tenure in Studio 6B. The closest the article comes is saying Carson hosted the Tonight show in the studio "four decades ago").
- First sentence of the "History" section claims Fallon's show will begin on the 6oth anniversary of the Tonight show but the supporting source neither mentions the anniversary nor gives dates for either Fallon's start or the first airing of the Tonight show.
- Finally, as the article's cited source does not support the date for Carson's move to Burbank (see item 2 above), both the original and alternate hook contain unsupported facts. --Allen3 talk 17:56, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- I believe I have addressed your concerns. Please re-evaluate hook ALT1. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 20:03, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Your edits have corrected the referencing problem but in so doing so the article size has been reduced to 1382 characters of readable prose, below the 1500 character minimum. --Allen3 talk 20:59, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, Allen. Please review the page again, thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 22:49, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
