Veganz
edit- ... that Veganz, Europe's first vegan supermarket chain, opened in Berlin in 2011 and plans to open in London in 2014?
- Reviewed: Aerial suspension (illusion)
- Comment: The source for the hook is Susie Mesure, "Veganism 2.0: Let them eat kale", The Independent, 8 December 2013:
- "One further example of how plant-based diets are becoming mainstream will arrive in Britain next year, when a German-owned chain of vegan supermarkets opens its first outlet in London. Veganz, which is a European first in offering a full range of vegan grocery products, opened its first store in Berlin in 2011. It is expanding fast and aims to have 21 outlets across Europe by the end of 2015. A spokeswoman said the group was planning to open a London branch next summer ..."

- Article creation date ok, article size ok, hook length ok, hook source online and ok, hook interest level decent, article neutrality and sourcing okay as it pertains to the company. But the "Vegans in Germany" section is a problem. It really belongs in a different article, since it is not specific to this company, but it is solely referenced to the company's website, hardly a neutral source in terms of statistics about veganism. And without this section, the article length falls to 1430 bytes and the DYK length requirement is no longer met. Wasted Time R (talk) 01:46, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, not sure what to say about that. The final section is there to provide context, and it's sourced to National Public Radio, not to the company's website. (Perhaps that last point was confusing because I forgot to copy the ref when I split the last section into two paragraphs; I've now copied the ref over.) SlimVirgin (talk) 02:14, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Oops, my bad on the sourcing complaint, I misread the number. But the NPR source doesn't mention the company once and there's no connection made to the business prospects of this particular company and the same two paragraphs could be inserted in half a dozen other articles. It's a classic case of dread "synthesis". But it's a brand new year and I'm not a believer in synthesis being so bad ... so we're good to go. Wasted Time R (talk) 02:32, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. Quite a few of the other articles I used as sources mention the increase in veganism too, so I can try to flesh that out a little using one of them so that there's a direct tie-in to the company. I was trying to produce something succinct that didn't labour the point, but perhaps I went too far in that direction. I could add something to the last section about the company owner, for example, and his own search for vegan food before he started the company. SlimVirgin (talk) 02:40, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've added a little bit more to tie the summary-style paragraph in with articles about the business, [1] so I think that's done now. SlimVirgin (talk) 22:58, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
