Vineyard Gazette
edit- ... that the Vineyard Gazette is the only paid circulation newspaper on the island of Martha's Vineyard?
- ALT1: ... that the Vineyard Gazette was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of 1991's Hurricane Bob?

- Hook: How about combing the two proposed hooks into ALT2: "...the Vineyard Gazette, the only paid circulation newspaper on the island of Martha's Vineyard, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of 1991's Hurricane Bob?".
- However I'm not seeing the info that it is the only paid circulation newspaper on the island in the source [1] - I'm not doubting that it's true but the info does not appear to be in there (there's stuff about it having the only printing press on the island but that's different). The second (alt2) part appears to be sourced to this article [2] and the information is indeed in there - perhaps a link should be included in the citation.
- Article: Length, date check out. A possible concern is that one of the major sources is the Gazette itself, which means it's cutting a little close of the "the article is not based primarily on such sources." clause of WP:SPS. However there did not appear to be anything unduly self-serving or potentially violating BLP guidelines in the article. I also checked both the NY Times sources, as well as the text of the History section of the Gazette itself for copyvio violations and found none.
- Basically, if the first part about it being the only paid circulation newspaper source can be sourced (or it can be pointed out where I'm missing it in the source) then we could use the combined ALT2. If not then ALT1 should be good to go, as long as no one else thinks the SPS issue is that important.Volunteer Marek (talk) 07:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oops. Sorry, my fault! I cited the wrong VG article for that one. I've corrected it now, and it appears in that source about halfway through. The paragraph begins "The only paid circulation newspaper on the Island, the Gazette is circulated on the Vineyard, in 49 of the 50 states in the U.S., the District of Columbia and in five foreign countries."
