This documentation covers all MMP election box templates, currently used for New Zealand general elections (since 1996) and elections to the Scottish Parliament (since 1999).

These election box templates are for displaying a list of candidates and results for an electorate in an MMP election. They contain examples of code that wiki-editors can copy and paste (and edit) to produce the tables shown below. The entries are sorted by descending candidate vote, and then by party vote:

Blue background denotes the winner of the electorate vote.
Pink background denotes a candidate elected from their party list.
Yellow background denotes an electorate win by a list member, or other incumbent.

Losing candidates

edit

Followed by losing candidates - who currently fall into six types:

  • Incumbent loses but is elected as list MP
  • Incumbent loses and is not elected as list MP
  • Candidate loses but is elected as list MP
  • Candidate loses and in not elected as list MP
  • Non-registered or local party candidate loses
  • Historic party candidate loses

Independents use the independent template below. For non-registered parties use {{MMP election box local party candidate}}.
For historic MMP parties that don't have assigned colors or shortnames (i.e. those with no meta/color or meta/shortname pages) use {{MMP election box historic party candidate}}. In New Zealand this only applies to minor parties from the 1996 and 1999 elections that became defunct before the 2002 election.
For list-only registered parties (i.e. without a candidate) use the party only or historic party only templates.
