Anaxyelidae

edit

According to the template, Anaxyelidae is in the superfamily Siricoidea, but the Anaxyelidae article mentions it is under the superfamily Anaxyeloidea(which is a redirect to Anaxyelidae). Which one is right? Thanks! PrathuCoder (talk) 23:01, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

As of 2021, here is the summary: "Most morphological studies have recovered Anaxyelidae as basal among Siricoidea (Rasnitsyn 1988; Ronquist et al. 1999). The molecular analysis of Schulmeister et al. (2002) recovered a clade Anaxyelidae + Siricidae, while Vilhelmsen et al. (2010) found the same in their analysis using implied weights. Similarly, Heraty et al. (2011) recovered Anaxyelidae as sister to Siricidae with strong support in all analyses. Most work has supported Anaxyelidae as comprising a superfamily, Siricoidea, with Siricidae, and together as the sister group to Xiphydrioidea + Euhymenoptera (i.e., Orussoidea + Apocrita) (Sharkey et al. 2012). However, all of these studies concerned only extant taxa and there have been no reports concerning the phylogenetic relationships of the many fossil anaxyelids." The implication in this paper and those that preceded it is that both Siricidae and Anaxyelidae are monophyletic. Whether to treat them as two superfamilies or one superfamily is therefore essentially arbitrary, but the general approach in the most recent works seems to be to treat them both within Siricoidea. Zenargidae

edit

Zenargidae is an extant family in Tenthredinoidea and should be added to the table. PrathuCoder (talk) 00:05, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
