Fair use rationale for Image:Washington DC colours.png
editImage:Washington DC colours.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

St George and Illawarra colours are too similar
edit(Not St George Illawarra). Can something be done to make them different, such as inverting the colours for Illawarra (They were never in the same comp as the 1908-9 newcastle team) Bevstarrunner (talk) 08:27, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
New Zealand
editHow long have the New Zealand colours been black and grey? Didn't they used to be black and white? The national sides colours are black and white and that is what they should be. Black and grey is the colours of the Warriors. Mattlore (talk) 20:24, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Separate the two teams?
editI think they should be separated. Especially since the Warriors colours are now black, white and red.
I just knocked up a few possible replacements:
-
5 stripes, black-based
-
3 stripes
-
5 stripes, white-based
I prefer the first one (even if it looks like a hot dog).
NRL All Stars games
editI know they won't be used much, but should there be icons for these games? I would imagine similar icons for New Zealand Maori, etc.
I'm not entirely happy with the Indigenous icon, but I uploaded it for balance's sake. Cashie (talk) 13:33, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Suggestion to add this to the NRL section for the use as the Dolphins icon as distinct from the heritage Redcliffe colours in the Queensland section.
If it could be invoked with "leagueicon Dolphins" in the regular formatting, that would work for articles where this should be used instead of the heritage Redcliffe colours.

Could the York City Knights colours (blue/white) be restored (in addition to the York RLFC colours) but marked as not current/old colours in the documentation as for example is done for Penrith. These colours were worn between 2003 and 2017 so it would be more accurate to keep these for representing the team in articles covering league and cup articles for this period.

Description of suggested change: Cook Islands and South Africa
Currently, Cook Islands and South Africa are using the same green and gold/yellow PNG file as Australia.
In the recent Word Cup Cook Islands wore predominantly white and green, with a touch of yellow/gold.
Might we have a change to have an independent Cook Islands logo, with white as well as green and yellow/gold? Either
- Green top-left, thin white stripe, yellow/gold bottom-right; or
- White top-left, thick green stripe, yellow/gold bottom-right
As for South Africa, might we flip the colours? Nhoj1898 (talk) 20:52, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
- Neither c:Category:SVG rugby league flag icons (squared) and c:Category:Rugby league flag icons (squared) have anything like you suggest, so it would take uploading of new squared flag icon images under the WP:COMMONS copyright rules. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 14:17, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Paine,
- Ihank you for your reply. With an apology for a delay due to work commitments, I have just uploaded Cook Islands and South Africa options to Category:Rugby league flag icons (squared). - If you click File:Canadacolours.png then under licencing it says the image is the the public domain. |link=
isn't used. Evidently you are instead concerned that the existing images are PD. And of course they should be PD in order to be used in this template. I checked all of these just the other day, and they are all on Commons and are all in the public domain. As far as I know, the|link=
parameter can only be applied to all the images at once, as has been done in the sandbox. I see no way to apply the parameter to each individual image. Do you? P.I. WP:PDIMOS:PDI — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:16, 26 March 2023 (UTC)- Well, I seldom work with copyright issues, because I find them to sometimes be very complicated. I was under the impression, though, that as long as an image has been approved by Commons, where images must be free globally, then they can be used on the English Wikipedia without question. Examples would be in Country data templates, Infoboxes and Team templates like this one. If this is wrong, then I and many other editors have placed a lot of images incorrectly. Maybe it's my ignorance of the difference between free/no copyright and public domain? I thought that for our purposes, there is no difference. So if we cannot assume that all Commons images are available for use without having to specifically check for images that are PD, that throws a huge fly in the ointment! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 10:38, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry if I've been unclear. I agree that copyright is complicated. Commons images can be used freely. The issue here is whether the image can be used without attribution (which is provided by a link to the file description page). — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:24, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Please add a template for the Gold Coast Seagulls using File:Gold_Coast_Seagulls_colours.svg, as distinct from the current colours used to refer to "Gold Coast Giants/Seagulls/Chargers". Reason being that the team's colours as the seagulls were completely different to those used by the Chargers. Thew new template would be useful for the individual season articles from 1990-1995, as well as the NRL Records page where the club won 3 wooden spoons only during their time as the Seagulls. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PhinsUp23 (talk • contribs) 13:02, 27 May 2023 (UTC)

Could we please have the Penrith League Icon (the 2017 one, not the old one) link to this file from now on:
I noticed somebody else requested this like 2 years ago but they never made a formal edit request and it was never replied to so I'm assuming it just flew under the radar, but their point is completely valid. White isn't one of Penrith's colours anymore (not listed on their article under the list of colours, nor does it appear on the stripes of their jerseys anymore) so it makes sense to change it. Should presumably be a simple fix, I changed it in the sandbox to the new file but it hasn't updated in there for whatever reason. PhinsUp23 (talk) 09:14, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: There are several icons currently used for Sporting Olympique Avignon, I have found a mix of France, Canterbury, Halifax and Swinton. The Halifax icon seems the best match based on the club article and would make easiest to distinguish from US Entraigues XIII and several other blue/white French teams. To make it easier for consistency of usage could the following be added to the template: |Avignon|SO Avignon=Faxcolours.svg
as already done in the sandbox. It has been added to the documentation, but as a hidden comment. EdwardUK (talk) 19:05, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Additional change: To reduce cases of the PNG national colours being used for the PNG Hunters please add a separate keyword for the club: |PNG Hunters=Port Moresby Vipers Colours.svg
- this is also already in the sandbox. EdwardUK (talk) 14:59, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
Additional change: A group of nine icons in the European (other) section, women's teams in the top two tiers that do not already have a matching icon from the men's teams: Army, Bedford, Cornish Rebels, Dewsbury Moor, Golden Ferns, Oulton Raidettes, Oxford Cavaliers, Stanningley and Thurrock T-Birds. Description of suggested change: update to match sandbox - the recent additions do not work, the reason being that the keywords contain capital letters. I did not realize this would be a problem as these were also present in some of the existing keywords (boston Braves and Crusaders Rugby League), but upon testing found these also did not work, so have changed all non-working keywords to lowercase and the testcase page indicates that this should resolve the problem. Description of suggested change: change to match sandbox – additions and changes to icons to better match team colours and distinguish them from other teams: Midlands Hurricanes uses Melbourne icon but colours are not a particularly close match. Thatto Heath currently uses a mix of icons (Norths, St Helens, Canada) so new icon will provide consistency. For French teams, current use for Villegailhenc-Aragon is Balmain icon (orange/black) instead of orange/dark blue, and the change to Avignon is because currently the same icon is used by Roanne. Addition of RC Salon icon is to distinguish it from Carcassonne. Note that for Avignon and Midlands I have attempted to check through usage of the keywords to make sure they are only being used for the relevant teams so there should be no unexpected changes for other teams. Documentation has been updated, but these changes are hidden until template is updated EdwardUK (talk) 19:59, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: change to match sandbox - replace the filename associated with the "cornwall" keyword to add a new icon for Cornwall RLFC (Cornwallrlfccolours.png) as the club currently uses the same icon as Hull FC (black/white), but Cornwall play in black and gold, and looking through news articles on club website shows they have always done so. editPng teams all need colours . Some have none and in all the pages with the exception of the Port Moresby Vipers none have their own, always re-using other teams. I dont feel this is right. i uploaded a set of colours for Enga Mioks
before realising they are are almost the exact same as south Africa.
Apologise if my wiki knowledge is not enough and my ignorance is obvious.
Thanks Eleutherius (talk) 09:55, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Eleutherius: The template uses:
|keyword|keyword2=filename.svg
for each team, so adding the PNG teams would need a list with the keywords and the icons to be used for each of them such as|enga moiks=Enga Mioks Colours.svg
or|lae snax|lae snax tigers=Balmain colours.svg
(note that the keywords use lowercase letters only). You can add them to the template's sandbox for testing, and then it is best to use the "request edit" button (top of talk page) to have them added to the template - as this needs to be done by an admin. EdwardUK (talk) 16:37, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: update template to match sandbox. |goole=goolevikingscolours.png
adds an icon for Goole Vikings, set to join League One in the 2025 season. It has been tested in sandbox and has been added to the documentation, but hidden until the template itself is updated. EdwardUK (talk) 02:51, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Note - The sandbox page looks very different to the template as the order of the European clubs have been rearranged to reflect changes in the leagues, however, the working content remains the same other than the addition of the icon requested above. EdwardUK (talk) 00:19, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Additional change: Also add
|barrow 1875=Wests Panthers Colours.svg

Description of suggested change: Change to match sandbox - addition of icons for Elite 2 teams (France), and some changes so that teams are no longer re-using the same icons as other teams, (Tweed Heads was same as Western Suburbs and Souths Magpies, Gloucestershire was same as NSW) and new icons for Paris SG (former Super League), Leigh MR (Women's SL) and London Roosters (Wheelchair SL) - icons are in test cases (4 to 16), documentation has been updated for changes, but hidden until icons are added to template.
