Shorter image

edit

@पाटलिपुत्र: Hi. Could you please find an image that's shorter in height? The current image is longer than the content :) Or perhaps this image can be cropped. A square-ish image might work best.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 07:32, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I reduced the size of the image. Thank you. पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 14:30, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks :) The width isn't the problem though. It's the height. We need an image where the width and the height are roughly the same. This can either be done by cropping this image to say, just have the face of the lion, or alternatively, place 2 "tall" images side by side to get one square composition. See Template:Gupta_Empire_Infobox for an example of the latter. File:Ashoka_Pillar_Vaishali.png might also be a cleaner and slightly shorter version for the lion capital.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 14:39, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
How about File:Sarnath_Mauryan_capital.jpg as an alternate candidate? What other iconic symbols do the Mauryans have besides the capital? The Dharmachakra?--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 14:51, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good idea. I tried with the capital from Pataliputra. Tell me what you think. पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 15:59, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
I've tweaked the alignment a little. See the page history for another version with a transparent and shorter image. If you like that better, please revert to that version. I'm not too fussed wither way. I'll keep an eye out for better candidates for this banner. Cheers.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 17:15, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Looks pretty good, and it does make quite a statement regarding Mauryan architectural styles. Cheers. पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 17:26, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
