WY Metro Zones

edit

This list of railway stations should be split into the five different zones used by WY Metro. Could anyone do this? --Wrh1973 20:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this is necessary. An alphabetical list is better, if the reader doesn't have prior knowledge of the zone system. --RFBailey 23:17, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Major stations

edit

Would Halifax, Wakefield Kirkgate and Bradford Forster Square count as major stations? Simply south 23:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was hoping for some input on this because I was strugling to decide. I guess an appropriate criteria would be those where you would be most likely to have to change trains, where you could catch a long distance train, or where the highest passenger numbers are. However, it seemed I'd missed a sensible answer. Looking at Metro's Map of West Yorkshire (http://www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/6C36F2BD-0290-45A3-B281-B05D91BB4BE3/0/MetroTrainDiagram.jpg), major stations have a larger (M) icon. I've adopted this approach in determining what to class as major and hope you agree this is okay. Adambro 08:49, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think the list is about right. I wonder whether Keighley should be on the list. It gets more users than Shipley? I agree it's difficult to agree on a policy of what denotes a "major station".. Direct services to/London? Well, that would make Horsforth major. Purely user numbers? Well, that would make Guiseley more of a major station that Forster Square? I don't fully trust the usage figures with exceptions. Anyway, for example look at Birmingham New Street station and Birmingham Snow Hill station and compare whats wrong. Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria. A little bit closer to Yorkshire Wakefield Westgate railway station and Talk:Wakefield Kirkgate railway station. Darton

edit

I've added a line to the bottom of the template about Darton not being in West Yorkshire. I think geographically it's important to note that it's not a railway station in West Yorkshire, but I think people would complain if it was taken out of the list. Comments?
